The Tchaikovsky State Memorial Musical Museum-Reserve in Klin is the oldest memorial musical museum in Russia founded by the brother of the composer M.I.Tchaikovsky in 1894. Nowadays it is a unique monument-complex that has been completely preserved. It consists of the memorial house in which the composer lived and worked, the memorial park with the buildings attached to the house, the new building for the archives of the museum, the Concert Hall and also Frolovskoye, Maydanovo and Demyanovo Estates. Suburban town of Klin became part of musical culture history with the name of the great Russian composer spent the last eight years of his life in Klin and its environs. That was the most brilliant period of his creative genius when he composed his operas “The Sorceress” and “Cherevichki”, “The Queen of Spades” and “Iolanta”, ballets “The Sleeping Beauty” and “The Nutcracker”, the Fifth and the Sixth symphony.
I had always wanted to go to Tchaikovsky's House and was fortunate enough to obtain a lift from Moscow. It took nearly two hours but it was well worth it. The House/ Museum oozes Tchaikovsky's lifestyle, whims and taste and you are able to walk around the garden and go up and listen to a piece of his music in his house which was such a treat and privilege. He valued his privacy and you feel his bond with the house. It was an afternoon to remember and treasure.

Great place to feel festive atmosphere. It's not a factory, it's a museum but there is a small room where they will show you how Christmas tree toys are made. It's impossible to visit it without excursion (it was in november 2019) but I guess nothing much has changed. Because there is not a lot of space in rooms and many glass toys which are really fragile. I don't know if the are any English tour guide. At the end of the excursion starting from the beginning of November there is Ded Moroz (Russian Santa Clause) who will dance with you around the tree. Also don't forget to check the shop where you can buy beautiful glass toys. It's outside of the museum. I wasn't there in 2020 (just can't choose another year)

If you are in in the city of Klin or if you never been there but you are visiting Russia/Moscow - ask your tour guide to take you Museum of Christmas Tree Decoration. Wow, what a magical/nostalgic place to re-visit your childhood dreams about Christmas decorations in the middle of Russia. Not only museum is great (tour guides are fabulous) but don't forget to stop at the store (right next to the museum) and purchase some fabulous hand made Russian Christmas decorations. Affordable, great presents to your friends and family for Christmas.
