In 1958, China attempted to invade Kinmen which was then known as Quemoy. The invasion almost sparked World War III. The invaders were repulsed by the Taiwan forces, led by President Chiang Kai-shek. Kinmen is 10 km (6 miles) from Shamen, on the Chinese mainland. You can hire a telescope; you can clearly see people moving around on the mainland. Kinmen is a small island, around 150 square kms. Kinmen is a traditional Chinese society, there is a lot to see, despite its small size

Having seen other wartime and historic sites and tunnels, I was dubious about yet another. But this is THE ONE to include if you're sightseeing. The island has an interesting history with two attempted takeovers by the mainland. These tunnels are huge and well worth a visit.

it's hard to believe that how this tunnel can be built. so amazing. highly recommend to visit this island (little Kinmen). you have to take domestic fly from Taipei to Kinmen (50mins)and then take ships (30mins) here. It's very convenient. So wothy!!!!! unforgettable sunset and more gold beaches with no people there!!! I can occupied a beach almost everywhere on the small island 這景點太不簡單 很難相信當時的人怎麼造的 強烈推薦大家來金門玩一定要來小金門（列嶼） 這邊的感覺更舒服 更寧靜 好放鬆 還有好多無人海灘 棒到爆炸 夕陽超美啊

Amazing buildings with Chinese culture. love to take a lot of photos here. Beautiful everywhere. Get to know the Chinese traditional buildings and history in person, I was so happy. It really worth visiting here. 非常推薦這個景點 可以看到傳統閩式建築 保存非常完整 美麗 感覺像走入歷史 隨處拍都超美 非常推薦跟家人朋友來 也可以帶小朋友來認識文化
