A 5.2 mile invigorating walk along a chalk ridge and the South West Coast Path with spectacular views over coast and countryside. The area is rich in history, from the earliest prehistoric times, as well as being of geological importance and having an abundance of wildlife, not forgetting the Tower That Moved. Allow time to browse the Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve and Kimmeridge village.
Super friendly car park people. It made a really nice difference (discussing the walks with the lady at the toll entrance) to our coastal path walking holiday.

Family and I have been going for years since I was kid. Infact many generations have loved and enjoyed kimmeridge. Rock pools fossils diving swimming snorkeling paddle boarding kayaking picnic and simply enjoying the stunning views. People complaining about £5. Really?. All day fun for the whole family. Get there at say 11am leave at 3pm. We usually suck every bit of the day we can stay until 6pm. So work it out for yourself. I think my family is worth a day out for 5 quid. New Mexican bar down there now. Check it out at the weekends. So anything negative, never. If you want sand and ice cream it’s not for you.

A unique, modern museum of amazing fossils - the marine life of Jurassic Dorset. Learn about Life and Death in the Kimmeridgian Seas 157 million years ago during the age of the Dinosaur. We house the finest single collection of fossils, all found in Kimmeridge on the Jurassic Coast, interpreted in an interactive aquarium setting
This museum (which also incorporates the village hall) is a an architectural and scientific gem. With amazing views over the very coast Steve etches collects his amazing fossil treasures, it is well worth a visit. Friendly helpful staff and we even saw the man himself working in his lab. Just proves what a passion in something can achieve.

This four storey circular tower stands high on the cliff overlooking one of the most striking bays on the Dorset coast. Built in 1830, its location has captivated many writers including Hardy and PD James. Clavell Tower can be booked for short breaks with the Landmark Trust, a charity that restores historic buildings at risk and makes them available for holidays.
The tower is a Landmark Trust property available for rental... and you will need to book a long time in advance. It is worth the wait. It is well-equipped and a peaceful place to stay with wonderful views. Heed the Landmark Trust’s advice to pack your gear in rucksacks... and do try to pack the bare minimum unless you really want to do multiple trips up the cliff with heavy bags. Take binoculars, camera and your walking boots. We enjoyed hiking and nature watching. Hares in the field next to the tower, roe deer further along the path and an early morning fox. Plan your walks right and you can have a cream tea at Clavell’s Restaurant in Kimmeridge to give you the energy to climb the cliff back to the Tower ;o) It can be a bit like living in a goldfish bowl as those passing are naturally curious about the tower, but we didn’t find it too intrusive.
