Naqa

I along with my friends took a tour company to visit this place along with other sites. It's amazingly beautiful. I suggest go with a guide as there are several facts and nuances to appreciate. I paid 10 USD as entrance fee and got receipt. Better to carry 10 USD note as change can be an issue. March it was hot but bearable, better to go in winter.

Nile Street

My favorite street in Khartoum. Ever green and coolish anytime of the year as it is directly by the Nile river. You pass by a few of the historical old buildings in Khartoum: ex the Presidential Palace, the Old Sudan-Hotel, University of Khartoum....etc. generally well-maintained and green. There are a few river-side coffee-shops, not trendy more on the traditional side, but pleasant.

Tomb of Muhammad Ahmad (Madhi)

Reviewed By 130ks - Zhenjiang, China

I was in Khartoum and Omdurman over the past week. I did go into the Al Khalifa House. It took a bit of persistence. There is a sign that says that it is closed for maintenance. But, the guard eventually let me in and he walked around with me. There is a small-domed (Mosque-like) roof inside with crescent moon ornament that I was told was the original site of the l Mahdi tomb. BTW, for those that are interested, you can view the entire Omdurman battlefield if you take a taxi or tuk-tuk (or walk about 5 miles as I ended up doing!) to the small town of Kerrari , just north of Omdurman. From the arrival point at the outskirts of the town, walk across the Nile bridge. Although the town has now covered over the center of the battlefield, and there is a military installation on Jebel Surghum, from the crest of the bridge, you will easily see the Jebel Surghum, the Kerrari Hills in the distance and the area of the camp established by Kitchener on the bank of the NIle. Good panoramic view.
