Khandala is one of the twin hill stations located near to each other, the other being Lonavala. These hill stations are very popular getaway spots for people from Mumbai and Pune, which are very well-linked with Lonavala by road and rail. Monsoons are the best time to visit Lonavala/Khandala.

Great place for a one day outing family and friends. Also a great place for one night camping. Many agencies arrange a tent like stay in winters. It is easily reachable from Pune by private vehicle. Good road, highly crowded, popular place. Best place to visit is winter and early monsoon...however as the rains start it gets so crowded that it becomes a big headache driving here in a car. Driving bikes here is easier.

Its a must visit place in Lonavala. Its a 30-40 min trek from the bottom to the top. And the view is stunning from every corner. In rainy season a rain coat is a must because Umbrella won’t work because of the heavy wind. In summer carry water bottle with you and please don’t carry food because you might attract monkeys unknowingly.

Valvan Dam is a water barrage that serves as the water source for the Khopoli Power Station, owned by Tata Power. This dam is built across River Kundali, originating from the Western Ghats. The water impounded by this dam forms a beautiful artificial reservoir, which is named as Valvan Lake after it. A lush green garden is situated next to this lake, where locals as well as tourists gather for picnics. Surrounded with a scenic landscape, Valvan Dam is a perfect place for peace lovers and solace seekers. Photo Opp Owing to its beautiful reservoir, lakeside garden and scenic surroundings, Valvan Dam is a wonderful spot for photography.
