Does time ever pass in the Florida Keys? Everyone and everything in Key West seems to go at its own pace, right down to the ice melting slooooowly in your margarita glass. Of course, it’s not all limes and leisure – Key West is known as the “Winter White House” because of its appeal to visiting U.S. presidents, and the island has been home to literary greats like Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams. The diving here is phenomenal, as is the kid-friendly Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center.

Delicious drinks and friendly service
I was ecstatic to know that Key West had a Wet Willie’s on Duval Street. I went on my last night in the Keys, which was 9/14/18. I ordered the Key West Daiquiri and it was delicious and gave this lightweight a light buzz. Some of my colleagues ordered very strong daiquiris and one ordered a non-alcoholic daiquiri. The daiquiris are so good and refreshing on a hot evening. We paid $11 for a medium size and I believe the non-alcoholic small size was $7. Remember to drink responsibly.

Of everywhere he traveled in this world, "Papa" Ernest Hemingway chose Key West to call home. It's here that we chose to craft the rum made in his honor, Papa's Pilar. Our Rum Distillery is located in a historic tobacco warehouse built in 1878 by skilled Irish bricklayers . Here you can navigate the art of making rum, discover how our rum makers craft our unique spirit, uncover untold stories of Hemingway and experience an adventure Papa would be proud of. Taste, Experience, Explore, Shop and bring the spirit of Hemingway home! Open Mon - Fri 10am-5pm and Sat & Sun 11am -5pm. We are located at the corner of Greene & Simonton Street in Old Towne Key West.
They say an average [meal/beer/wine/drink] with good company makes for a great experience. But, when that meal/beer/wine/drink is great, the experience is unforgettable. That is exactly what Papa’s Pilar rum is when you do the Cocktail Class! Captain Kirk, Mo and Dixie Cup (you’ll learn why they have their names, when you attend ????) hosted a memorable evening of learning, mixing and drinking Papa’s Pilar rum and a tour of the distillery. The group was small enough to be intimate (5 couples), yet still have a festive party setting. We had the place to ourselves. The 2 cocktails we got to make were awesome (I normally prefer my rum neat or on the rocks and I could drink either of them all day!) We had the Hemingway’s Hurricane and Key West Kiss, but they vary and change it up, so it doesn’t get stale. Captain Kirk kept it lively, entertaining and FUN! We learned a lot and WILL be back for more lessons! Highly recommend.
