To smell the wild air Drink crystal clear water The Kuntipuzha River drains the entire 15 km length of the park from north to south into the Bharathapuzha River. Kuntipuzha River divides the park into a narrow eastern sector of width 2 kilometers and a wide western sector of 5 kilometers. The river is characterized by its crystal clear water and perennial nature. The main tributaries of the river, Kunthancholapuzha, Karingathodu, Madrimaranthodu, Valiaparathodu and Kummaathanthodu originate on the upper slopes of the eastern side of the valley. The river is uniformly shallow, with no flood plains or meanders. Its bed falls from 1,861 m to 900 m over a distance of 12 km, the last 8 km being particularly level with a fall of only 60 m. Kuntipuzha is one of the less torrential rivers of the Western Ghats, with a pesticide-free catchment area.[21]

One of the best unexplored places in Kottayam. Located very near to Illikkal kallu, this is a heaven for trekkers and people seeking adventure. We can park your vehicle very near to the waterfall and walk down to the waterfalls. Steps are a little steep. The waterfalls are perfect to take a bath and is very safe.

The largest and the best waterfall in Kerala. This waterfall doesn't dry up like the other seasonal falls we come across in Kerala. Even in peak summer( April-May), there will be minimal flow ensured by the reservoirs in the upstream of the Chalakuy river. The entry tickets have to be taken from the Sholayar check-post approx a few minutes before the falls ( while coming from Chalakudy side). It is allowed to enter into the river at the top side whereas you are not allowed at the bottom of the fall. There is a dress change facility available. There are also few snack bars managed by the eco-development committee managed by the forest department. To reach the bottom of the fall there is a paved path. it is easy to walk down to the bottom of the fall but the climb up is tiring. But it is amazing to see and hear the water falling from the bottom of the falls.

Thusharagiri waterfalls is an excellent falls we have visited in November 2019. After the heavy rains, there's plenty of water flowing through the falls, which is a good news for water-lovers and people who bathe in falls. Also we were lucky enough to get there at this time with no rains and only a nice cool weather. The entry tickets are given after 8 a.m. and allowed to go inside after 8.30. A small trek for about 1 km leads you to the first falls. The very look at the falls and the surrounding forest is breathtaking. People who love to immerse in the water should be ready for an ice-freezing experience. Since the falls flows through the forest, the herbs and medicinal plants surely do have an impact on the water flowing. So it's really good to bathe in this water. Thusharagiri - a completely lovely and lively experience for our family ! A must- visit place for all who come down to wayanad!
