Providing Indian style cooking class - duration one and half to two hours
We had a great time learning how to make several dishes. Meera passed on her recipes and knowledge and we cooked a feast. Her husband expertly showed us how to make the accompanying chapatis. We then ate our meal and it was the best meal ever! Beautiful fresh ingredients. Do visit her and do this class one evening, you won’t regret it! Thanks Meera

The class is at Maria’s house in Fort Kochi. I learned a great deal about cooking with spices. With Maria’s guidance the class of five cooked Kerala Fish Curry, Chicken Masala, Dahl and a coconut vegetable dish. It was all delicious. Maria provides copies of the recipes and willingly shares her knowledge of Kerala food and cooking. Well worth a visit.

Khan is back in Varkala cooking up a storm! He will take you to the market and let you choose the freshest ingredients, then show you how to make the yummiest Keralan food with his own twist. He is a patient teacher and I highly recommend his class!

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend an evening with Jasmin. We learnt how to make 6 keralan dishes. We could have made it more hands on but decided to sit back and take notes and watch Jasmin’s mastery. The food was amazing and Jasmin and her husband Stanley were excellent hosts. Highly recommend it. They also run a Homestay so you could eat Jasmin’s amazing food morning and night if you stayed!

An amazing afternoon spent with Nimi has taught me so much about Keralan food. As someone with fairly limited cooking skills and no previous experience cooking Indian food, the class was not intimidating and the explanation extremely clear. Nimi starts with an in depth explanation of spices and how they are used in keralan cooking, how things compares to north Indian cooking, tips on how to cook with the spices and suitable substitutes if you can find those spices back home. After this we started preparing the dishes Nimi had chosen for us, she gave us all a chance to get involved with various tasks and made sure to explain each step and answering any questions. After a few hours we could finally enjoy the fruits of our labour, which were delicious! Nimi is very knowledgable, patient, humble and brought good humour to the afternoon. She even encouraged us to email her with any questions whenever we liked. Nimi is understandably only able to conduct classes for 2 or more people. As I was travelling on my own, I asked if there were any upcoming classes already confirmed that I could join. She kindly organised a class for me and another solo traveller who had enquired and I'm so glad it worked out, the experience was amazing.
