The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

This gigantic bejeweled shrine protects the gilt bronze sculpture of Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, which was designed and executed after the Prince Consort's death in 1861.
The love that Queen Victoria had for Prince Albert was enormous, as evidenced by the large memorial she commissioned in his memory. Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha died of typhoid in 1861 at the age of 42. The Albert Memorial sits across from the Royal Albert Hall. It is in Kensington Gardens, which is one of London’s most famous gardens. It was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the Gothic revival style and was completed in 1876, fifteen years after Prince Albert died. It was refurbished between 1994 and 1998 and the Prince Albert statue was re-gilded. The closest Tube stations are High Street Kensington or South Kensington.

Opened in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall is the world’s most famous stage. It is also one of London’s most iconic and visited tourist attractions. Over the years, it has been the scene of over 150,000 performances; from Wagner to Sinatra, The Beatles to Beyonce, Muhammad Ali to Adele, and is home to the celebrated BBC Proms. Whilst the venue is most famous for its shows by night, by day this treasured building is open for coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and guided tours of the building.
A brilliant night out for my wife and I to celebrate my birthday. We started with a meal in the Verdi Restaurant, it was very good, with excellent ,efficient, helpful and friendly staff. Then we enjoyed Katherine Jenkins and others singing to a full house. Not only was she brilliant, her voice is unbelievable. The orchestra were great and were positively interacting with the audience.

Was staying nearby next to the embassies and loved the short walk each morning to the tube station where at any moment of the day, I could pop in to M&S or Whole Foods for a satisfying bite. There is no other high street in London I’d rather be in. Safe, convenient and atmospheric. Thank you, Londoners for making Kensington so easy to love.

Explore the birthplace of Queen Victoria and home to young royals for over 300 years. Walk in the footsteps of royalty in Victoria’s re-imagined childhood rooms, the magnificent King’s State Apartments and the famous Sunken Garden. View an exquisite piece from the wardrobe of Diana, Princess of Wales alongside original sketches created for her during the design process and explore the beautiful private rooms at Kensington Palace where Mary ll once took her meals, relaxed and entertained.
Visited this small but perfectly laid out exhibition of some of Princess Diana’s most famous dresses...’Diana Her Fashion Story’, including the dress Diana wore when she danced with John Travolta! The dresses are on ‘invisible manikins’ and are often displayed with a photograph of Diana wearing the item. It’s wonderful to see these dresses close up and admire the detail and skill that obviously went into making them, as well as the transition of styles through the years. Kensington Palace, in beautiful Kensington Gardens is easy to get to, just a 10 minute walk from High Street Kensington underground station. There are other interesting exhibitions to see in Kensington Palace at the same time, you’re entry ticket gives you admission to the King’s & Queen’s state apartments ( King George II & Queen Caroline and William III & Mary II), as well as a lovely exhibition about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, including some spectacular tiara’s! Well worth 2-3 hours visiting the palace, as well as visiting Kensington Gardens, the palace café and shop.
