The Via Egnatia was a road constructed by the Romans in the 2nd century BC. It crossed Illyricum, Macedonia and Thrace, running through territory that is now part of modern Albania, North Macedonia Greece and European Turkey as a continuation of Via Appia. Starting at Dyrrachium (now Durres) on the Adriatic Sea, the road followed a difficult route along the river Genusus (Shkumbin), over the Candaviae mountains and thence to the highlands around Lake Ohrid. It then turned south, following several high mountain passes to reach the northern coastline of the Aegean Sea at Thessalonica. From there it ran through Thrace to the city of Byzantium (later Constantinople, now Istanbul). It covered a total distance of about 1,120 km (696 miles/746 Roman miles). Like other major Roman roads, it was about six meters (19.6 ft) wide, paved with large polygonal stone slabs or covered with a hard layer of sand.

I can't thank our tour guide Adam enough for giving us a fun filled day from start to finish. If you are lucky enough to get him as your tour guide you will agree with me that he is one interesting man on this planet! He went above and beyond, even making additional pit stops. He showed us so much in one day that would of easily taken us two to three days to do. The tour exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do future day trips in other countries/cities with Albanian Express Travel and Adam!
This private guided experience is unique for the North of Greece visitors, who are interested to see and hear where Christianity all started in Europe and the rest of the world. It is a must-see attraction when travelling in the Steps of St. Paul. Philippi site is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage list and excavations are still going on in this vast site. We booked this tour months in advance. We were then contacted by this company and told in order to go we will have to pay an additional $170 Euros in cash when we got there to pay for transportation. We agreed but asked that this tour be very informative about Alexander the Great and then they canceled the tour. So we never ended up going with this company. I guess they didn’t expect to give an informative tour.

My guide Vasile met me at the Acropolis metro stop, we headed to the Acropolis, and I was the only person that had signed up for a tour that day so it was a solo tour. We stopped at the Acropolis, Temple of Hephaestus, Greek Agora, Lycabettus Hill, the glass running man, and the Olympic Stadium in my half day tour. 100% worth it, got some great photos and better memories, and would happily suggest them again.

I went on the Astro Tour and it was a great experience! We were picked up at a nearby location and dropped off at the house of the guide, who was an astronomer. He had a very nice telescope ready for us to use and he showed us a lot of wonderful things that you can't see with the naked eye. The owner of Hello Thessaloniki, Solon, was there with us the whole time. He was really nice and very accommodating! He also gave us a lot of recommendations on where to go and what to do in the mainland of Greece. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about the area and all the wonderful things there is to see there. If I ever come back to the mainland of Greece, I know for sure who to call! Thanks Solon for the great experience! :)

I love a good walking tour! It's the first thing I like to do when arriving to town since it gets you oriented to the major history and then gives you ideas of stuff to see.. We packed so much into the tour. The Square, government buildings, sculpture, orthodox church and mosque - wow so cool, and lots of other little things we eyed up to go back and enjoy.. Rate this one an "A"!
