Fantastic warm, clean water, one small cafe on beach, take tuk tuk instead long boat ( tuk tuk from Karon Beach to Freedom costs 400 baht, and long boat from Patong charge 1000 baht, although trip is very short. If you arrive by car/tuk tuk/motorbike, you have to walk down/up the stairs - some good, some broken, but manageable - average fitness required, down takes 20 minutes to walk, up - 25-30 mins to walk. Clean beach. Jewel in the midst of civilization. Definitely recommended!!!

The entire experience was amazing. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the people were super friendly. The elephants appeared to be happy and well kept, and I did not notice any scars or signs of abuse of the elephants which is a major concern for some elephant attractions in Thailand. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. It pays to go when there isn't a big crowd because we were able to spend a nice amount of time taking pictures and playing with the elephants which was an amazing experience.

this is worth the walk from the main patong beach. quieter with clearer water. enough restaurants, bars and shops and some of the larger hotels to occupy you when not sunbathing.

Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach has established the Merlin Butterfly Sanctuary – a unique conservation project in collaboration with partners at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Butterflies are essential pollinators for a wide variety of decorative and wild flower plants as they cross-pollinate flowers separated by large distances.

Amazing place to interact with elephants in a humane and ethical way! ???????? The people in the sanctuary are knowledgeable and have great English pronunciation that make it easy to follow the information and instructions given ???????? Some reviews mentions that they think the elephants are being treated too harshly, but everyone who has ever owned a dog, a horse or another animal knows that all animals needs boundaries. The elephants in camp 4, where we were, are actually somewhat spoiled. ???? My dog would never be allowed to beg beside me and try to steal my food while I ate like these elephants did to their mahouts. ???? These elephants cannot be released out into the wild because they are born in captivity. Many of them are rescued from a life of being badly abused in riding camps, logging and circuses. Therefore they cannot survive in the wild, and there are rules that the release of these animals are not allowed. The elephants in the Elephant jungle sanctuary is living their best life, getting cared for and loved by both tourists and staff! They are living a life a hundred times better than what they did before!!! ♥️
