The most popular of all the jeep routes in Tajikistan is the Pamir Highway M41, equally be loved of cyclists (at least on the downhill stretches). Highlights of the road, which demands ten days of your time to see it in full, include the cosmopolitan town of Khorog with its suspension bridges, Afghan market, botanical garden and parks; ruby mines and naturally hot spring baths; groves of fruit trees amidst a patchwork of irrigated fields; and the stark and isolated, yet unforgettably beautiful, Murghab Plateau, where only nomads roam. The Pamir Highway grants visitors access to the Tajkistan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the wildlife and ancient archaeological remains of the Wakhan Corridor, and ultimately to neighbouring Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan. In a single day you can wind your way through high-altitude deserts, empty plains, and lush green meadows, frequently scattered with wildflowers.

Date of tour: September 2019. Booking process: Booking the tour was very easy. Alovaddin answered all my questions quickly, suggested an itinerary and adjusted it to suit our start/end points and flight times. Excellent service. Arrival and departure: Our guide( Zikriyo), and our driver (Sher) met us at the Uzbekistan border as planned. Easy to organise. At the end of the trip they took us to the airport at 4am. We were more than happy to get a taxi, but they insisted on driving us. Sums up their attitude throughout. Thanks Zikriyo and Sher. Tour: Superb tour. Our guide and driver were excellent. Our guide spoke good English, was very knowledgable and made the trip fun. We enjoyed talking to him about Tajikistan, its history, his life and family. Our trip included Penjikent, Shing Valley (7 lakes), Noffin, Marghib, Pskan (Yagnob valley), Saratog (Iskanderkul) and Dushanbe. A particular highlight was the short walk and overnight homestay in Pskan. The homestays and guesthouses were all comfortable, the food was good and plentiful. The length of travelling on each day was well planned. We had plenty of time to explore on the way and at the evening destination. It wasn't rushed so we could get the most of our trip, whether it was a bit of hiking, meeting the locals, or just relaxing as the sun set. Overall we had a wonderful trip, that showed off some of the best countryside that Tajikistan has to offer. Highly recommended. Thanks Alovaddin, Zikriyo and Sher!

The Pamir Highway is one of the world’s greatest road trips. The Pamir Highway. It’s a name that vibrates strongly in the belly of anyone with a taste for adventure. The high desert of the Pamir invites expletives and superlatives. ... It crosses the whole Pamir region of Tajikistan, running from Dushanbe to Khorog to Osh. From this road, you can look at China, peek into Pakistan and wave to villagers in Afghanistan.

Tajikistan is a wonderful country and the Explore Pamir team will make sure you discover the most beautiful places!! They can tell a lot about the country, they speak their languages, and are always willing to help. It is one of the most beautiful holiday trips I've made till so far.
Untouched, unspoiled and unrivaled. Tajikistan is an oddly shaped, mountainous, landlocked country squished between Afghanistan to the south, China to the east, Kyrgyzstan to the north and Uzbekistan to the west. A country unknown to most the outside world that I chose to visit exactly for that reason. Those that make it to this little known corner of the world will be greatly rewarded. Kyrgyzstan is a country that captured our imagination from the very first time we entered its border from Kazakhstan. It has beautiful unspoiled mountains, crystal-clear mountain lakes, a fascinating culture, and interesting traditions.

My tour of Bukhara was the highlight of my trip to Uzbekistan. My guide, Lola, was arguably the best tour guide I’ve had the pleasure to sightsee with. She had an exceptional knowledge of the history and landmarks and her enthusiasm of the subject matter was infectious. She tailored the tour to my interest and was extremely patient as I nerded out taking photographs. I so enjoyed my day with her and hope to get her as a guide again on my next trip to Uzbekistan. The tour was effortless with hotel pick up and drop off. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! Well worth it!!
Experience the best natural sights, real life of nomads and all main monuments in one week time with an intensive route trips. Travelling along the famous Pamir Highway, the second highest highway in the world running between Osh in Kyrgyzstan to Khorog in Tajikistan and winding its way through the Parmir Mountains, their 7,000m peaks earning this artery the title ‘roof of the world’. As we travel through remote communities scattered along the Highway and beyond, we stay in welcoming homestays, immerse ourselves in a cacophony of cultures, with each village speaking in a unique dialect. This journey through some of the most exquisite elevated landscapes in the world is more about following in the tracks of ancient traders and explorers than those of modern day tourists, with isolated communities that still see very few foreign visitors, and traditions that haven’t changed for generations.

There are three branches of the Great Silk Road along Tajikistan: 1) North / Sogdian stretches between Samarkand (Uzbekistan) and Kashgar (China); 2) West–East / Karotegin stretches between Termez (Uzbekistan) and Kashgar (China); 3) South / Pamir stretches between Termez (Uzbekistan) and Tashkent (China). These ancient routes were formed by the Persian, Greek, Chinese and Arab peoples, who made a huge contribution to the socio–economic relations — trade and culture of the whole world between the V – XII centuries. In order to learn more about the contribution of this way to the culture and civilization of the Tajik people, there will be presented a tour package “Great Silk Road in Tajikistan” WELCOME TO TAJIKISTAN — JOURNEY TO THE PAST

The Wakhan valley is located between in south-west of Tajikistan in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province and north-east of Afghanistan. It contains the headwaters of the Amu Darya River, and was an ancient corridor for travelers from the Tarim Basin to Badakshan. An 1873 agreement between UK and Russia split the Wakhan by delimiting spheres of influence for the two countries at the Pyanj and Pamir rivers, and an agreement between Britain and Afghanistan in 1893 confirmed the new border. The Wakhan is connected to Tashkurgan Tajik County, China, by a long, narrow strip called the Wakhan Corridor, which separates the Gorno-Badakhshan region of Tajikistan from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan. Historically the Wakhan has been an important region for thousands of years as it is where the Western and Eastern portions of Central Asia meet.

HISSAR FORTRESS (3000 years old) — located 26 km from Dushanbe (West). The fortress is an open-air Museum. A number of legends from the work of A. Firdousi "Shahname"are connected with the Hissar fortress. Hissar is the capital of the province of Eastern Bukhara and was in the hands of the Governor of Emir Ibrahim Bey until 1924, when he was defeated by the red army. The fortress overlooks the market square, surrounded by a caravanserai and two madrasas, one of which is an ethnographic Museum. Other unique historical finds near the Hissar fortress are the Mausoleum of mahdumi Azam, Masjidi-I-Sangin ("Stone mosque"), and the natural source of Chashmai Mohien
