Sacred Hearts Mission Church

Cozy church seating about 150. Carved wood altar. Beautiful, simple stained glass windows behind the altar. They open the windows/doors all around, so it is almost like an open-air mass. Mass had multiple Hawaiian songs, ukulele, guitar, piano and choir with native-Hawaiian appearing choir members, nuns, servers etc, making it a cultural experience too. So glad to attend mass here! Tip is to get there early, as parking is ok, but you park further and further away as the lots fill up going up the hill. it was very much standing room only when I was there (some seats up in the loft), and Many were standing on the main level in a January mass. Still way worth it.

We stayed at kapalua golf villas in March 2018. The front desk manager, Romel was exceptional. Exceptional customer service. The entire staff was exceptional. We were not ocean front but ocean view and we saw a whale breach even from that distance. We had a two bedroom two bath condo, with a huge private balcony, part covered part open. Very quiet condo, beautiful grounds and shared but private pool, never crowded, 2 to 4 couples at most. Free shuttle service to beach and restaurants on property. The tavern near our condo was the best, very friendly and good food, reasonable for Maui.

We loved everything about this beach! It is unspoiled by condos, has beautiful views, surrounded by iron woods, clean restrooms, and excellent burgers and shakes at the Burger Shack. My 3 children loved the day exploring the iron woods, relaxing in the hammock, body surfing in the large waves, burgers & shakes for lunch, and walking over to the formations at Dragon’s Teeth. As we were there in the windy season, we did not even attempt boogie boarding, but all the more reason to plan another trip here!

We were fortunate to get a nice parking spot, changing into our bathing suits at the restroom and then accessing the amazing beach with incredible water, views and plenty of space, including some shady areas to beat the heat. The water is refreshing and the rolling waves are gentle enough to snorkel in at each end of the beach.

We all loved the Kapalua area of Maui, and this short walk to Dragon’s Teeth is an easy one, and you are rewarded with interesting lava formations, a beautiful view of D.T. Fleming Beach, and a great spot to whale watch. There is a large hedgerow which marks the boundary of the Honokahua Burial Site. Watch for high waves and wet, slippery rocks!

I visit the Spa every time I stay in Ka'anapali. I love their relaxation room with the little amenities they offer. Their women's spa facility offers everything you need and I was fortunate enough to get a wonderful Massage by Hailey. I've also never had a bad facial there. Yes they are pricey, but for a luxury Spa property, this is average & I am usually never disappointed.

We walked through ocre coloured ground, an old pine apple plantation, Jurassic park type plants, found wild passion fruit, wild pig tracks - it was just amazing. We did about 13 miles round trip - bring water, it’s warm in some places and cool in others with the tree shade. I’d highly recommend this hike for many reasons!
