State park featuring some of Pennsylvania's historic railroads.
We have been here several times but not since the visitor center. Wow, it was Very nice. We only had 20 minutes so we didn't have enough time to explore and play. The exhibits were really cool, colorful and interactive. Wish we had more time in the building. We did walk across the bridge. It is worth the time to see it and explore. Would recommend to do it in the warmer weather due to nothing pretty to see during this time of year.

My husband and I were on an anniversary getaway to the Allegheny Forest area and noticed a couple little signs on the side of the road directing us to Flickerwood. Since we were trying to delay our return to the real world, we decided to follow the signs to see where they led. Boy, am I glad we did!
While neither my husband nor I are great fans of wine, our adult children are. We pulled up in front of a charming storefront and climbed the steps to the front door. I'm pleased to say the store has a wooden ramp that is lovely and quite functional for wheelchairs.
The store had quite a few local wines displayed along with gifts and accesories that wine drinkers would love. We ended up talking to the shopkeeper about which wines to pick. After asking a couple questions as to our brats' preferences, he directed us to a couple of local wines that he felt fit our needs.
He was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful about other interesting things to check out in Kane. If you have the time I suggest you follow the signs, if you don't have the time MAKE the time. This was a completely enjoyable stop for two non-wine drinking people.

Growing up in North Central PA I had never heard of this place until they were featured in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Now I have stopped numerous times, very friendly owners and employees , great meats and numerous types of sausage and beef sticks. One item they don't have all the time is their homemade ham balls. Picture a meatball made of ham loaf with a sweet and sour glaze. Outstanding. Their homemade subs are pretty basic but come with their own sweet/hot sauce which sets them apart. All in all you need to stop as to find a place like this is few and far between.

NW PA's 1st Craft Distillery Handmade Vodka, Gin, Rum and Whiskey using locally grown grains and pure Allegheny Mountain Spring Water. -tours and tastings, bottle sales -cocktails, appetizers, soup and sandwiches Come and check out our 300 gallon artisan still. We would love to show you the whole process
Went with a group of ladies for lunch and a tour & tasting. Their menu featured appetizers, several sandwiches, chili, and specialty drinks made with their spirits. We ordered both the artichoke and buffalo appetizers with chips. They were hot out of the oven and gobbled up quickly. For lunch half of us ordered the Turkey sandwich, the rest ordered pulled pork. They were not your run of the mill sandwiches either! The smoked Turkey included cheese, lettuce and a yummy cranberry type dressing. The pork was not soupy and included cole slaw in the sandwich. The roll was perfectly chewy. Altho this is a distillery, only one of us drank, a watermelon mojito, I believe. Good, but needed to be a hot day to really enjoy. Tom gave us a tasting and led us to the still room. We are not accustomed to drinking straight alcohol, so only a few of us tested. We are not qualified to judge based on tasting since the little we consume is mixed with something else. He explained that some of the spirits start out the same, but at some point are infused with flavors to make that specific spirit. Grain is purchased locally and bottling is done by hand. Although whiskey is not offered yet, there was some nearby aging in oak barrels. Great time! Great food!
