Great place to go walking and stretch your legs while in Longview. There is a beautiful walking trail of about 4 miles around the entire lake. Along the way, you can take in a Japanese Garden, explore an island, or play on the playground. Several streets cross the park, so you can make your walk as long or as short as time allows. All kinds of different trees and plants line your walk. Plus the surrounding neighborhoods have homes ranging from midcentury modern to cottages. The park is well maintained and does have bathrooms. In the summer, they do well attended concerts.

A lovely treat for your senses... Wonderful scents and hundreds of beautiful, photogenic lilacs! Lilac Lovers Heaven!
This garden contains many mature lilacs of different varieties and colors, all highly fragrant. It is an Historically protected site that also includes a vintage farmhouse, a small gift shop and several unique lilacs for sale. This property near Vancouver, WA ( NOT BC ) is well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from Seattle, or 1 hour drive from Portland. It is just off I-5 in the small town of Woodland.
The $3 admission is quite a bargain, and it is a nice respite when traveling by car from Seattle to Portland. If you like gardens, this is not to be missed!
Visit only between mid to late April and mid May when the lilacs are in bloom.

Trojan Park is a public facility maintained by Portland Gas & Electric, near the site of their former Trojan nuclear power plant. It is a 75-acre day-use park that features hiking, fishing, biking, and even a world class Disc Golf course. It is open only from May to September. It has picnic facilities for both individual and group use, with electric stoves (this is a power company park, remember?), sinks, water, and electrical outlets. Free and open to the public, there is a small day-use fee for groups. The park is 3 miles east of Rainier and 42 miles west of Portland, on US 30.
It is home to a flock of Piebald geese, a patchwork cross between domestic white geese and Canada geese.
Weird-looking.

This place is NO turkey----fun place to stop on the way to Astoria.
Cool old building, great deck and patio area out back.
Full bar, lots of beer. They have live music on weekend. We stopped in for lunch.
Our bartender was a cool dude. Good attitude, friendly and can rustle up a mean burger.
Started with a couple of excellent bloody marys. Spicy and came with all the best veggies. Onions, olives and pickled green beans.
I got the cheese burger with bacon. Upgraded to swiss cheese vs american. Burger was cooked well and it was tasty. Good fries too.
Hubby got the special, a Patty melt. Also very tasty. The onions were caramelized and that made the sandwich so good.
Stop in, enjoy a drink and a meal. Fun place!
