What to do and see in Kailua, Hawaii (HI): The Best Tours

November 20, 2021 Leonarda Pillsbury

Oahu's Kailua, meaning "two seas" or "two currents," is named after either the two lagoons located on the island or the two currents that run through Kailua Bay. Steady trade winds make Kailua Beach a great windsurfing and kite-flying destination. Kailua Beach Park features pristine white sand and views of the offshore island known as Moko nui or "two islands."

Eric and Ginger, two of the partners in this venture, gave us a tour of their unique distillery set up on the Windward side. We were there along with another couple with adult children and friends, and Eric explained the process, which was pretty interesting as we homebrew and have been on a lot of brewery tours as well. Something different. Enjoyed the whiskey and got cute shot glasses as a souvenir. Active and retired military discounts as the partners are all retired Marines. Located in Kapaa Quarry a few minutes from downtown Kailua, all the way at the back end of the complex, nice spot. Go and discover something different.

We live in Florida, booked online several weeks prior. Had a number of trips planned in addition to this one. Our time was 9 am, on the way there, someone called asking where we were, stating we were on our way, she explained that they had text us the night before, supposed to be there 45 minutes prior. NOPE!! never got a text, only our printed document saying flight time was 9 am. In short, pilot, Andy, was excellent, staff was nice... but why don’t you put the critical, required info in the ORIGINAL document. It’s so simple... or here is a thought, why not put “ heh, gonna call you day prior”!! Lady on the phone was quite rude.

We had the best day with Ryan! This is our second trip to Oahu so we wanted to experience something different from the normal tourist attractions. We aren’t the most adventurous group and Ryan gave us a great tour even though we weren’t able to snorkel, the water was too rough, he took us to places we wouldn’t ever be able to find on our own. The views were beautiful and our little hike to a waterfall felt like we were in the jungle and we got to do some cliff jumping, vine swinging, living out childhood dreams lol. We all walked away feeling like we have a new friend in Ryan! Thanks so much for helping us make such amazing memories and taking pictures so we could just enjoy everything we were seeing! I would definitely book with Ryan again it’s so worth it. Can’t wait to come back again and find more treasures!

Easy to make reservations, great communication nearing our date, seamless arrival and expert instructions. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and genuinely happy to see their guests. The guided 2-hour tour was perfect for us. Got snorkel gear and bikes afterwards to do more exploration. But - absolute best was having Braden as our guide - not only amazingly knowledgeable but really engaging and funny. Highly recommend
