What to do and see in Justicia, Community of Madrid: The Best Classes & Workshops

April 15, 2022 Myesha Cogley

So many of Madrid’s buildings look like castles, you’ll think you’ve stumbled into a fairytale. Even City Hall is astounding, with its white pinnacles and neo-Gothic features. A self-guided architecture tour can begin by the great bear statue in the central Puerta del Sol. Wander by the fanciful Royal Palace before absorbing the natural beauty of Retiro Park, then visit one of the city’s many museums. You could happily cap off each day by nibbling on forkfuls of paella while sipping Spanish rioja.

Today my daughter and I took Paloma's paella and sangria cooking class and it was fabulous! We signed up because of Paloma's reviews and after our experience, it is clear why she has such high ratings. After we booked through Airbnb, Paloma responded to us by message instantly to welcome us to Madrid and ask if we had any special requirements. We are vegetarian and she readily adapted to our request. Today during the class, Paloma was a fun, engaging, and knowledgeable host and a great cooking teacher. The group was eight people in total and Paloma did an excellent job of engaging all of us in the cooking and with each other. We made sangria, tortillas, and paella, and it was all delicious! We had many laughs and it was definitely one of our Madrid highlights. I'm so glad we went and I highly recommend this adventure to others.

I travelled solo and had a great time. It was a mixed group, people from different countries. Rosa, the cook explained dishes and preparations in detail. She took good care of everyone. In the end we enjoyed our self prepared dinner together. I can recommend it a lot.
