Johor Bahru City Square

Strategically located in the heart of the city and only a stone's throw from the customs and immigration checkpoint, Johor Bahru City Square stands out as a central landmark in JB. With its more than 200 retailers, it offers a host of fashion, entertainment and restaurants. All catered to wow the senses and satisfy the needs. Rush in when the doors open at 10am for breakfast, then head out and start your shopping adventure of clothes, shoes, bags, trinklets, toiletries, electronic toys. Everything the heart desires. Unique to Johor Bahru City Square is the Inner City, an eclectic mix of smallish fashion and accessory shops plus restaurants housed in a tight, quaint setting. Always a firm favorite of the "NOW" generation. After many hours of shopping, rest the feet in one of the numerous restaurants and cafes or indulge in a soothing foot massage, then go on to treat the rest of the body at a salon.

Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple

Reviewed By macedonboy - Glasgow, United Kingdom

The Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple is a Hindu temple and reputedly the oldest in Malaysia. From the exterior, it’s an innocuous looking South Indian style temple with a gopuram. Inside the temple looks far more elaborate as it’s completely decorated in glass and glass mosaic. The decoration looks heavily influenced by Thai Buddhist temples, except that this temple has taken the glass to the extreme of having the glasswork everywhere. Other than the eye catching glassworks, the temple is fairly typical of Hindu temples with statues of deities dotted around the temple. Surprisingly, the temple also has sculptures of figures from religions including Christianity and Buddhism. Overall, a pretty temple with eye-catching interiors. The temple is to the north of the city centre and can be a pain to get to, especially if walking. I thought it was worth it nevertheless.

Chinese Heritage Museum

Reviewed By macedonboy - Glasgow, United Kingdom

The Chinese Heritage Museum is a fantastic museum detailing the history of Chinese settlement in Johor Bahru. The first two floors are dedicated to and have an amazing amount of detail about the different Chinese communities that settled and on their contribution. The top floor is a special exhibit on gambier, the crop that originally made Johor wealthy and first brought the Chinese over. A great museum for a very small entrance fee.

Singapore to Bukit Indah We took CW3 from Jurong East bus terminal which is next to Jurong East MRT to Tuas checkpoint. It costs SGD4.30 per adult using ezlink card. If paid by cash, it is SGD$4.50. The ticket shows From : Jurong East and To: Larkin Terminal. After clearing Singapore immigration, at the exit, turn right and walk to the end of the road and join the queue for CW buses. You can take either CW3 or CW6 buses to go to JB checkpoint (CIQ). There are 2 rows for JB immigration. It is separated by a narrow road. If the counters behind are manned, you can also get your passport stamped there. After clearing JB immigration (CIQ) walk straight and you will see a CW staff sitting at one of the bus bay. You can tell him that you want to go Bukit Indah and he will tell you to continue walking straight and join the queue for big sign with No. 1. It is for CW3 bus. Look for signboard which shows Bukit Indah. Sit on the left in the bus and about 20mins into the ride, you will see Aeon Mall. Alight at the sheltered bus stop at the same side of Aeon Mall. Bukit Indah to CIQ At the same sheltered bus stop which you alighted earlier, wait for CW3 bus. Ask the driver if CW3 is going to CIQ. It costs RM5 per adult. The ticket will show Dari: Jusco Bukit Indah and Ke: Jurong East Interchange. Some CW3 bus may be going to Perling Mall. Do not board. After you cleared JB checkpoint, walk straight and wait for CW3, CW4 or CW6 and board. Ask the driver if he is going to Singapore checkpoint. Look for big sign, Arrival, for entrance to Singapore checkpoint.
