Jefferson City is a city in Jefferson County, Tennessee, United States. It is part of the Morristown, Tennessee, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 8,504 at the 2015 census estimate. The city was originally named Mossy Creek but was changed in 1901 to honor Thomas Jefferson. Carson-Newman University, a Baptist college founded in 1851, is located in Jefferson City.

I grew up just down the road in Morristown and knew where the Glenmore Mansion was located. However, I am ashamed to say I did not tour this beautiful place until I was well into my adulthood. The staff provided a great tour of this historic mansion. It was an outstanding learning experience. As we walked the halls and stairwells, I tried to imagine myself back in the late 1800's living in this spacious homestead. Glenmore had a large part in the history of the railroad in East Tennessee. I am fascinated with local history in and around my hometown and this tour only peaked my curiosity to learn more about this estate. During a visit with my family a few weeks later, I could not quit talking about our afternoon at Glenmore Mansion.
