You can walk,up and down the pass, by the seashore, beautiful cliffs and wooded area. Also, suspension bridges, over the coast, observing Ohshima - in Japanese, means a big island - and a nice light-house that enables you to view mountain side of the area, including Mount Omuro.. Very nice and comforting to roam, looking at the ocean out there and listening to the birds.

There is an amazing sand dunes that you can climb and then enjoy the whole view of sea. Also an oasis is beside it so you can see some beautiful plants and flowers.

This is a beautiful place for hiking. There are many steps and in places, the trail is quite steep. If you are afraid of heights, you might not want to visit this area. But, this is a beautiful place in Japan. The trail is at the top of high hills and in most places it is only about 2 to3 feet wide. We walked all the way to the end and were treated to some amazing views of the peninsula and the ocean. There is a little place to eat and a gift shop at the beginning of the hike, near the parking lot. There is an unmanned lighthouse at the end but it wasn't open the day we were there.

Absolutely gorgeous. The weather is very variable and changes quickly - the first day we went (parking at the main parking lot) had a sunny forecast but when we got there the entire mountain top was covered in thick fog and it was pouring rain so we couldn't see it at all. It was also very windy and approaching freezing in October. The next day we hiked over from the Zao Onsen Ropeway and the weather was perfect although still jacket weather. Very glad we made the second attempt because it's fantastic - the unreal color of the lake along with the alien landscape.

I like that you get to enjoy nature at its best just by sitting on a train. This activity is perfect specially for those who travel with kids and seniors. The sceneries are so breathtaking... we get to see the different autumn colors. We also get to see some monkeys along the way. It is best to enjoy the ride by taking the "open-air" car. They also allow change of cars and sched in their ticket counters as long as seats are available. Do not forget to explore the Unazuki Station before riding the train. There is an observatory deck near the car park where you can see the top view of Yamabiko Bridge and we almost did not see the blue stairs between the Unazuki Station and the car park where you can go down and have the perfect view of the old and new Yamabiko Bridge. It is the perfect spot for taking the photo of the train passing through the bridge. This activity is perfect for all ages!
