This is a wonderful gallery full of every imaginable style of artwork reflecting local culture. It is a welcoming space with a new adventure at every turn. The gallery is a great place to shop with very reasonable prices, or a great place to visit for an authentic experience.

Majolica Antica is more like a gallery than a pottery shop. The pieces are hand-crafted which is a much better option than the mass-produced ceramics that you find in souvenirs shops all over PV. The staff is warm and friendly, answering questions but without the hard sell. Even if you aren't looking to purchase, its worth stopping by to see the beautiful pieces and charming shop.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and the owner was gracious enough to call the owner and open the gallery for us. Since COVID the hours are not regular. So many wonderful pieces of art, we all bought something and We loved supporting the local community by visiting this not for profit gallery. Highly recommend!

Colectika is an exceptional gallery, specializing in regional Mexican art. Much of the collection is dedicated to wooden painted carvings (alebrijes) from Oaxaca or Huichol art from the Wixáritari, who live in the Sierra Madre Occidental range in the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, Zacatecas and Durango. The alter comes in two forms – carvings that are covered with colorful small glass beads or yarn “paintings”. Both of these art forms incorporate symbols of importance to the indigenous residents. The gallery is owned and managed by Kevin Simpson who has developed close relationships with many of the artists and who is extremely knowledgeable and will spend as much time as one needs explaining and discussing the art with visitors to the gallery. Colectika will also provide shipping to one’s home. While the prices here are not cheap, they are extremely reasonable for the quality of the work exhibited. This is definitely a place for both serious collectors and those interested in beginning a collection. There are also two other shops in town showing similar work but in smaller venues. These are both called Peyote People and are owned and managed by the same folks. No visit to Puerto Vallarta should be considered complete with a visit here.

I stumbled on this gallery during the Wednesday night art walk and was instantly drawn to the amazing and interesting artwork. Marty, the owner, is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about Polish vintage posters and his extensive collection is quite impressive. I came back the next day and inquired about a couple of specific genres and he took his time to share numerous posters with me, explaining about the artist and history behind them. I ended up purchasing a 1980s poster that I could not be more happy with. With my purchase I received information from the gallery and from the MoMa (there was an exhibit there of many of these works a few years ago) with more details about this period of often subversive art. Whether you are interested in purchasing or just in seeing a stunning collection, Posters International is well worth your time. I highly recommend it among the other galleries in Puerto Vallarta.

Art gallery. Owner Gary Thompson conducts a weekly free Malecon Sculpture walk from October through April. Contact the Gallery for details.
A small but lovely art gallery with many unique items, some of them small version os sculptures along the Malecon. Gary Thompson the owner is a wealth of information. He offers the morning and sunset tours free with just a donation to the library in appreciation for his time. I actually did the free sunset Malecon tour by Gary Thompson with Memo this trip and found it quite interesting. It included half of the sculptures to the south of Galeria Pacific ending at Galeria Demetro ( Page in the Sun). It was very informative, presented well and also gave the opportunity for question and answer. He also offers a morning tour for the other half of sculptures. Whether you do a tour or not, you must walk the Malecon in PV to complete your trip. It is the essence of PV. Visit the Galeria Pacifico as well.

This arts and crafts marketplace offers many places to shop and bargain.
We spend a half day walking through San Juan de Dios Mercado. You want to buy it, you will find it here. All name brand stuff. Levis, Nike, leather goods, food stands, Mexican craft goods, clothes, perfumes. We left with a boat load. The dollar is trading at 20 pesos for a $1. No credit cards, cash only. Use situational awareness as this place is a locals swap meet.
