A person with passion for his work. I think this is the best description for the guide. He has a very deep knowledge about the history of Sarajevo and Bosnia. We were more than satisfied with his guidance. I especially thank him because he was very attentive to the corona measures.

After spending 2 days at Sarajevo by myself I felt I need to see more of this beautiful country. Luckily I met someone who recommended this tour. I firstly booked a half day tour to Trebević mountain and to the tunnel of hope, the tour was great so I decided to to book a full day tour where we visited 5 cities in Bosnia. I totally recommend this tour, the agents are very professional and friendly everything went exactly as planned. Ask for Mak.. he's great ????

Travnik and Jajce are two cities who are pretty unknown for most of the people in the world but for the locals a symbol of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period of Ottoman and Medieval time. Both of the cities are having a typical Bosnian charisma. Cities in the middle of the hills and mountains with vivid life, nice people and lovely scenery. In our tour, you will visit both of them and we will explain to you the stories connected with both cities and show you the sights which are quite beautiful and unique to see.

On our honeymoon, my wife and I joined Nikola’s Siege of Sarajevo/War Tunnel tour. It affected us so much that we came back for a second tour that afternoon, for Nikola's street art tour. A year later, I’m still asking the questions that Nikola and Sarajevo lit up in my mind. What is nationalism? What is the state? What is self-determination? What will it take to achieve a truly free society? I’d asked these questions before, but Sarajevo helped me see new colors. I don’t know if any other tour guide could have held these themes up to the light in the same way that Nikola did for me. It felt like every piece of history was personal to him, like he was unraveling a mystery--and I sensed that somehow I was involved in the mystery too, and that solving it would involve uncovering things that I had been searching for without realizing. That still feels true to me now that I’m back home. That’s why I keep thinking about Sarajevo and Nikola.

In these nostalgic days for traveling, I sit on the couch and thinking how nice it was to be able to travel. And so it occurred to me last year and a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, more precisely only to Herzegovina and its beauties. So I had to write a few words for this beautiful country and its natural beauties. The tour of Mostar left the most beautiful impression on me, the Old Bridge and the old part of the city are beautiful. Then a visit to Jablanica and the bridge that was destroyed in the war. So this country also has a rich history. And finally, I must mention the wonderful guides who took us to every corner of these cities and told us about history, even gave us free time to buy souvenirs. 10/10 for guides! p.s. Be sure to try Bosnian coffee and Turkish delight.

Funky Tours arranged several excellent tours while I was based in Bosnia (one or two which were free of charge) between October 2020 and March 2021. This included a food and drink tasting tour, the siege of Sarajevo tour, a day trip to Jajce and Travnik, a day trip to the Srebrenica genocide memorial centre, as well as one to Herzegovina which included stops in Mostar, Medugorje and Pocitelj. Each tour was outstanding and the tour guides, having lived through the events you learn about on the tours, are fascinating people to spend a day with (a big thanks in particular to Taib). I learned so much about Bosnia, past and present, from them. Booking the tours was always made easy and they even arranged a customised tour of the famous Sarajevo City Hall which included a visit to a replica ICTY courtroom (a big thanks in particular to Ema). I learned so much about Bosnia on each tour - from what it was like living through the war to finding out about the Bosnia of today. Even although some of the events they cover are difficult for a visitor to comprehend (partly because the country has been largely rebuilt), you come away from it realising how relevant Bosnia's history is to the world we live in today. I was lucky enough to see first hand so many of the great things about the country - its diverse landscapes and stunning views across several towns and cities (especially Sarajevo), how much the country has been rebuilt in the last 20 years (it would not be fair to class Bosnia as 'war torn' any longer), the wonderful mix of architecture and traditions, its excellent local cuisine and of course the down to earth and wonderfully hospitable Bosnian people who are always welcoming of visitors. Bosnians are rightfully keen to show that their country has so much more to it than the war that ended there more than 25 years ago. Having been on several tours I feel like I am just about an expert on all things Bosnia and Herzegovina. I absolutely recommend Funky Tours - in fact I cannot recommend them highly enough. Bosnia is a great country to explore and because of its offering which includes Olympic ski slopes near Sarajevo and vineyards in Herzegovina it can be considered as both a winter and summer destination. The main thing is to make sure you go there at some point - and use Funky Tours to show you around! (the tours I went on were always carried out within covid restrictions, in a small group or one to one)
Morning ride will take us through interesting regions of central Bosnia, passing by Visoko town and valley of Bosnian Pyramids (can be arranged as a stop, but due to time limits on this day is recommended in our 2day package), and then along the flows of river Bosna and Lasva and especially beautiful flow and canyon of Vrbas until, nearly three hours later we arrive to Jajce. a city which truly bears epithet “royal” as it has been the residence of the Bosnian Kings. It is World’s only city with natural waterfall in the city centre and birthplace of Yugoslavia, but even more.

Jajce and Travnik are unique small cities located in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, famous for the history and tradition. Jajce city used to be the capital of Kingdom of Bosnia while it existed, and in the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empire it kept the same importance. It is made famous by its castle, but also by the beautiful waterfalls. We have to mention that Travnik and Jajce represent some of the most beautiful places of Bosnia region and together with Herzegovina are favourite excursion to our guests.

Despite the lack of tourists during the pandemic, Enes and Nadir went out of their way to provide a great tour experience. Enes' witty and expressive personality was definitely the highlight of the tour. We had a blast walking through the fresh snow at the abandoned bobsled track and admiring the expansive view of Sarajevo from the abandoned restaurant on Mount Trebević. I appreciated that Enes shared some of his own personal experiences, like how he managed to track down the Swedish (?) boy that sent him gifts during the war and that he had the chance to personally meet and thank Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of Iron Maiden, for performing at Sarajevo during the siege. Enes has great taste in music and even sent me some songs related to the conflict in Sarajevo, which accompanied me during the rest of my time in the city and gave me a lot to reflect on. The sites we went to were all super fascinating. At the Tunnel of Hope, I got to hear the stories of individuals who braved their lives to bring in food and supplies during the Siege. Enes was very candid in his delivery of Sarajevo's history. I could tell it meant a lot to him. If anything, this tour was too short!

I had an excellent walking tour with Samir, the owner of Travel Bosnia. He personally met me even though I was the only one who signed up for the tour that day, which was greatly appreciated. He was on time and professional, very knowledgeable about the city and the history of each stop on the tour. The pace and content was just right for what I was looking for. The tour hits a lot of the primary city center highlights that you will want to visit, and with a lot more context than doing it on your own.
