When we visited in October, 64 ft high Glen Ellis Falls was quite impressive with a great amount of water flow. The Falls are reached by just a very short walk (0.3-mile) from the parking lot. There is a pit toilet available near the parking area. You start the walk by going through a tunnel which goes under NH Route 16. Over 100 stone steps will lead you down to the base of the falls for the best viewing of the entire falls. When we visited, these stone steps were still wet from a rain the night before, so we had to use extra caution. The round trip walk took us 20 minutes. The location and description of the walk to this Falls was listed in the book, “AMC's Best Day Hikes in the White Mountain's” which we purchased prior to our trip. The book mentions that this is a very popular walk, so we are glad that we visited early in the morning. At that time of day it was not crowded at all. We were told by the White Mountains Visitor Center to display our Senior National Park Pass so that it could be seen through our car window. Otherwise, in the parking lots, there is usually a box for a fee for day use of White Mountains National Forest areas.

Awesome store with handmade and cool finds! Drove down the road just to cross the bridge, and I had to stop at this building. The building and items were unique and fun to look at. Staff was friendly and great to chat with about hiking and the mountain. Wish I had more time to stay and explore around the shop.

This photography studio is in the Snowflake Inn and it is amazing. Honestly, if you are just hanging around Jackson you should stop in. It's free to look and the photo's are impressive. Dana is a really nice guy and his art is a great value. I didn't buy anything when I was there but now I wish I had. You will never get better framed pictures of the White Mountains at better prices.

Popular ski area in the northernmost reaches of New Hampshire.
Wildcat Ski Resort is one of the most interesting ski resorts in NH, and possibly all of New England: The views from the ski trails are spectacular; This area is within the white mountain national forest operating with special permit & as a result you see no massive condo developments, hotels or houses surrounding the area.....there is nothing but beautiful forest and mountains. The trails are old new england - narrower and winding. There are trails for all ski levels. The people are great the resort/snow is well maintained. The single base lodge is another classic with good food and good vibe. Higher elevation matters in terms of better conditions and longer viable season. Highly Recommended. I almost hate to do this because it might crowd the place more. Weekends can be crowded, weekdays are the very best way to go.

Black Mountain Ski Area offers affordable skiing and riding for all ages in beautiful Jackson, New Hapmshire. In the summer and fall months we offer scenic one hour horseback rides for ages eight and up, pony rides for the kids as well as all inclusive overnight adventures!
Great experience with the horseback riding! Guide and staff were great, and horses were easy to work with; I had no problems as a first time rider. You ride up along the ski mountain runs and the area and views are beautiful. Prices are also very fair. Would recommend this to anyone.

This was one of the most unique and fun things my wife and I have done in some time. I recommend the place highly. From the charming music that echoes in the background while you sit and wait for your horse and sled to appear, sitting by a roaring open fire pit to the quality of the staff (super nice, friendly, professional), you will be enchanted by this 67 acre farm and its many lights and buildings. The ride itself is lovely as you circumnavigate the area, over bridges where skaters glide on the pond below you, past the giant corral where other horses relax and a variety of hills that afford breathtaking views of the entire fame as well as the picturesque Mount Washington. The place is very organized. We checked in and were told to follow the black path to the third fire pit and wait for Seth. He showed up, nah emblazoned on his jacket and told us which sled was ours. We took the private ride. It was worth every penny. Our driver was Scotty, a man who has been working at Nestlenook for five years and a very well informed driver. We drove past a beautiful Riveras well, listening to it bubble and gurgle as he told us some history of the place. This was unique and really inspiring.
