Right at the tip of Isla Mujeres. Lovely place. Truely awesome views of the cliff. We didnt go till the very tip because of the entrance fees of $3 per person. Got the same views and had a nice time. Saw some huge iguanas.

My wife doesn't like to pick up souveniers or junk on vacation, so she almost never buys items on vacation. This shop was so charming, she made an exception. Great jewelry made by some fantastic ladies.

We booked a trip to Xelha. We were met by a lovely lady named (and I hope I do not mangle her name too badly) named Culita at Peurto Juarez who stayed with us until we boarded the bus. I appreciated that very much as I had a bad experience with ANOTHER COMPANY last year. I plan to use thei company for any future excursions.

Captain Dulche's Museum

Isla Mujeres Museum Capitan Dulche. This Museum is dedicated in loving memory of Captain Ernesto Dulche Escalante, founder or the 5th Naval Region (Isla Mujeres). Captain Dulche´s Maritime Museum treasures a big part of Isla Mujeres history, this is documented in a great photo collection of over 150 that have never been seen before. The Museum also contains an excellent collection of anchors, buoys, chains and lanterns, maritime tools and two projection rooms, showing one video of the famous mexican diver Ramon Bravo and the even more famous Jacques Cousteau. It also has the largest collection of model ships and metates in the whole mexican caribbean.

So we went to playa lancheros and another nearby "beach club" and found them all tourist operations with boats coming in, ok food, and a beach no better than our own condo - just more $ to spend.
New Years dulce was closed so we came back our last day. WOW we missed out. Not sure why listed as a museum other than all the artifacts shown, because in reality the best parts were the food, atmosphere and amenities- and no extra charges for entry.
They had live music - guitar and horn - not cheesy. The pool and beach were clean and nice. Staff friendly, food good and cheap. Few people there and overstaffed if anything. Not expensive and no one xtra charges to pool or beach. Hingis to figure out how it makes money - government subsidy? I don't care!
Great place to spend a day lazing around!

I walked West Malecon when I had arrived to Isla, from Cancun ferry to my hotel at Playa Norte, and this was the best introduction to Isla! Tiny shops with textiles and shells, bars, palm trees, fishermen, beach basketball, bright colors and happy crowd of tourists and locals.
Now, if a few days later you become tired of all this lively and noisy existence, East Malecon is a good place to get away from any tourist activities: it allows nice and peaceful stroll along Isla's East coast (rocky one). One can actually start from Playa Norte, via Mia reef, along downtown and up Punta Sur. Yes, as had been mentioned by the previous reviewers, it is a bit run down, as is pretty much everything on Isla, but does it really matter when you are looking at the ocean and enjoying weather and dolce far niente?

This is a drift snorkel. They drop you off at one end of the rocks and reef area. The boat floats along nearby. We went early in the morning while it was calm and not crowded. The water is 8-12 feet deep.
We saw a ton of fish. Lots of baracuda in the area along with the usual reef fish. We probably saw at least 30 or 40 species. Definitely worth a couple hours of yoru time.
