The Shrine is the most impressive and beautiful shrine we visited during our 12 days tour. We were all very amazed by its elegant and gorgeous architecture, and the peacefulness and friendliness of the people, both the visitors and the staff inside the shrine. Visited while in the Army during a sandstorm in August 2004. Climbed the 103 steps to the Ziggurat of Ur of the Chaldeans. It was the temple to Nana the Moon god about 4100 years ago. It was most recently restored by Saddam Hussein so is in excellent condition. Also got to tour the ancient city of Ur and the nearby boyhood home of Abraham!!
