What to do and see in Ipoh, Perak: The Best Sacred & Religious Sites

June 28, 2021 Claudia Navarrete

The British colonial city of Ipoh had humble beginnings, but has blossomed into a beautiful cityscape that marries old-world charm with modern amenities. This is a foodie's city, offering endless street stalls and restaurants all eager to serve up a sample of mouthwatering local fare. Walk it all off on a jaunt through breathtaking limestone caves that seem carved by the capable hands of a higher power.

Perak Tong Cave Temple

Quite a surprise. Tucked away behind a big Chinese temple is a huge cavernous cave. It houses a very serene Buddha and many other statues of Buddha and Chinese Gods. The paintings on the wall are very beautiful. There are many stalactites and stalagmites with water drips. There is a steep stair case taking you to the summit only for the fit ones. Worth a visit.

This was my first time experience discovering some mosques in Ipoh. All this while, when we talk about Ipoh, first thing comes in our mind is The Lost World of Tambun. Strategically located in the middle of the town and near to the field, this mosque has some unique properties which make it different than Masjid India in Masjid Jamek.
