Did this on the way back from the Shipwreck, seen on here to book a small boat, which was absolutely true, we used Alykes VIP boats, the caves are beautiful and our captain manoeuvred into the smallest of the caves, whilst the bigger boats just slow down and sail past!!

We finally found the black cave after about three attempts and I am so glad that we did. The view was amazing. It is a challenging walk up to the cave but there are ropes in place to help you up. This should not be attempted in flip flops - we passed a couple of people trying to reach the cave wearing flip flops, you need to wear trainers. There is a little café and the man in charge is responsible for putting in the ropes and maintaining the path so it is worth buying something from him as he uses the money to maintain the path. Thoroughly recommended.

We visited the cave on the same day that we did Melissani Lake and Sami on a day trip from the southern coast of Kefelonia. It is a really interesting place to visit. There are quite a lot of steps down to the cave and the steps are really damp from the very high humidity in the cave. I wouldn't say they are particularly slippery (despite the numerous warning signs) but you do need to take it slowly on the way down. The cave is a welcome cool retreat from the heat outside if you are visiting in summer. The cave is over 100 million years old and the formations of stalactites and stalagmites are really quite impressive. The cave is lit really well, so it is easy to see the formations as you walk through the cave. The are pathways to walk along inside the cave, so you won't feel claustrophobic. It also has really good acoustics and has held classical music concerts inside here. It is only around 5 Euro to enter and if you are in the Sami area, I think it is definitely work a visit (it is only 3 km from Sami).
