A unique museum at Ellinikon village, the birthplace of the internationally well known Greek sculptor Theodoros Papayiannis. His work although depicts the tradition of Epirus, is also modern and includes sculptures with ecological meaning or made with recycled material. Even the road to the village is very interesting with some works of art "exhibited" alongside. A visit to the museum will certainly please both adults and kids. Free entrance.
Theodoros Papagiannis is a sculptor who's had a 50+-year career, but who's heard of him outside Greece? That's a shame, because his work is beautiful and fascinating. This small museum has an amazing range of his sculptures, from his subtly realistic clay busts, to high-concept pieces on mythology, life and death. This is a lovely small museum that he built in his childhood schoolhouse. Right outside – and on many roads in the village, all the way up to the monastery – are dozens of sculptures by other artists, as well as Papagiannis himself. Who would expect to find such a collection of contemporary art in a sleepy mountain village? Well worth the detour!

The collection has 600 unique objects, which are thematically classified in seven rooms. There are sufficient and detailed descriptions of the exhibits.
Delightful and easily manageable museum centrally located (opposite the main gate to the castle and old city. Interesting and helpful descriptions of artifacts, collected lovingly by the scholar who collected many of the artifacts and who was kind enough to acts as a our guide. He stressed the presence over the centuries of diverse ethnic and religious groups: Christian, Muslim and Jewish. Highly recommended.
