Inverness is a city in Citrus County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 7,210. It is the county seat of Citrus County and is home to the Citrus County Courthouse and near the 10,950-acre (4,430 ha) Flying Eagle Preserve.

At 46 miles in length, the Withlacoochee State Trail is presently one of the the longest paved rail-trails in Florida. With a generally flat terrain and many access points, the trail is an ideal venue for all skill and fitness levels of cycling, running, walking and skating an unpaved equestrian trail parallels portions of the paved trail. The trail corridor traverses three counties (Citrus, Hernando and Pasco), offering an enjoyable, varied journey as it runs through small towns, ranches and six distinct natural communities between Citrus Springs and Dade City. Officially designated as part of the Florida Greenways and Trail System, this State Trail is also a National Recreation Trail® which offers rich opportunities for viewing plants & wildlife and provides access to many other outstanding recreational opportunities.
The 46-mile Withlacoochee State Trail is a great place to ride. The surface is asphalt paved and the trail winds through or near several small towns as well as through the City of Inverness. Much of the trail is through forest with a lovely, shady canopy.

This 18-hole Bermuda Grass course is located on the site of an old phosphate mine, featuring many tall oak trees and rolling terrain.
Under new Ownership, GREAT food, open late (10pm), Fantastic surroundings, darts, pool and "afternoon specials" for the golfers! It's cheaper to eat out here in the day time than stay at home!
