This is a cute park, with loads of hiking trails. This is the place to go for locals when wanting to take a hike in the city, or there is a small little lake that gets packed on the hot days that locals rush to as well. Nothing out of the ordinary with this place, just a nice break from the city.

The Thomas Irvine Dodge Nature Center is an environmental education and habitat restoration organization located in West St. Paul. Over the past 40-plus years, Dodge has seen more than one million children and their families pass through our gates, each one leaving with a greater understanding and appreciation for the world around us.
It's an incredibly beautiful place, and so cool that it's free -- but the model farm is anything but. Maybe it would be a model a few decades ago, but it gives kids and even adults an impression that their food comes from pretty places with animals with heaps of room and TLC next to a cute red barn. Awwww.... It's wholesome and the staff seem lovely, but 99% of animals come from factory farms. So even though there's education happening, that part doesn't feel so educational in so far as learning about the world we live in...

The Minnesota zoo is in Apple Valley Minnesota which is roughly 15 minutes from Minneapolis our family has been there three times and we still enjoy ever visit. The zoo has a marine section where you can touch nurse sharks and stingrays and is very much an experience for the kids for sure. The dolphins show is free and the trainers are very good at putting on a show.
The polar bears have a fun with the guests last time we were there the polar bear was tossing a ball to the kids
There is camel rides at the zoo as well and is free no extras, they have a few areas in the zoo that are good for kids to play and they have gym equipment there too
The entry fee is rather heap considering the size of the zoo I have been to smaller zoos and paid more

Delightful free walk out above the Mississippi River on restored historic swing bridge. Pedestrians only. Tiny city park was created at entrance to bridge. Off street developed parking, beautiful and clean new restroom facilities. On bike trail: unique free to use bicycle tools anchored to stand next to restroom.
Walk out on bridge which extends perhaps 1/3 the way across the mighty Mississippi. Views of upriver bustling marina (restaurant and outside deck open to public) and downstream spoil island where houseboats regularly beach.
Across the river you can still see the ruins of where the bridge originally connected to the land. Mega industrial facility across the river. Well downstream from the historic South St. Paul meat packing plants: for years the biggest meat packing plant in the world. Like the whole bridge, the plants are long gone but reclaimed land hosts a very nice paved bike path which connects to this Rock Island Swing Bridge Park. Take the bike trail down the river for just a few miles and end up in Hastings, MN, another historic river town. All in all, the Bridge Park is either a great place to stop on your bike ride or a nice evening destination to drive to for a calm river walk in good weather.

The Science Museum of Minnesota is well-known for its hands-on approach to science learning and entertainment. It features the popular Experiment Gallery, an Egyptian mummy, an authentic Mississippi River towboat, a convertible-dome Omnitheater and interactive exhibits for all ages!
My son is an avid learner and for his 12th birthday we took him to the Science Museum of Minnesota. He loved the third floor with the interactive experiments. He loves dinosaurs but he just walked through that room quickly because the physics and chemistry experiments outside were irresistible! We watched the IMAX movie 'Dream Big' and it made me want to become a civil engineer!

Really fun water park! The cost is only 10.00 per person. Very affordable for an entire day of fun. We were there for 4 hours and could have stayed longer. Plenty of areas to keep kids busy. There are 6 water slides which are suitable for younger kids, and some are for older kids. Lots of seating available all over the park. And if you can't find a chair, there is a large grassy hill where you can lay out your towel and enjoy your day. Lazy river was nice and big. Arm floaties are not allowed, however they do have life jackets if your child needs one. There is a separate area for smaller children so they are away from the larger kids.
You can grab lunch here for very reasonable prices. Pizza slices are only $2.50. They have pizza, burgers, french fries and many other options. Mini golf is also an option here for an additional cost. I think it was $2.00
Definitely would go back. Kids loved it.

This is a very nice, hilly golf course that is 15 minutes south of St .Paul and 25 minutes from Minneapolis. There is an executive 9 and an 18 hole course. The 18 course has many ponds and water features. It has several dramatic elevated greens. The course offers 5 different tee options so that a wide range of skill levels will enjoy this.
There are perhaps 1/4 mile to walk between a number of greens and the next tee. That, along with the many hills, means that many of us will want to take a cart.
The course features many lovely holes and yes, woods come into play on many holes. But many of the fairways are quite wide. You need to be thinking as you play the course.
Senior rates are very good. Club house is pleasant, but the food is nothing spectacular.
The course is busy but they have a ranger who moves around and encourages slow groups to pick things up. The 18 hole course is NOT for beginners. They should go with the 9 hole course. Overall, the golf is very good.
