What to do and see in Innsbruck, Austrian Alps: The Best Tours

September 6, 2021 Nobuko Falco

Coveted by empires and republics throughout its history, Innsbruck was the seat of the imperial court of Maximilian I by the end of the 15th century. Trams make getting around the city quick, efficient and cheap. Explore the Tyrolean capital's history at Archduke Ferdinand II's 10th-century Schloss Ambras, the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum, the grand 15th-century Imperial Palace and Maximilian I's famous Golden Roof. One of Europe's most idyllic cities, Innsbruck is nestled in the heart of the Alps.

While my tours i want to show you the hotspots of the capital town of tyrol. Innsbruck is located between the alps and really worth to see. In this town we have a long history of the habsburg family, also 3x Olympic games, the famous battles of the Bergisel and more. On the other side we have the friendly people, good food and drinks, less polution and a lot of nice spots to spend some hours. The most time we walk, only the longer day trips we need bus or the funicular train to the Hungerburg. I offer: small Tours - old Town, golden roof, Cathedral, River Inn medium Tours - same as small, but we also visit court-church and Hofburg full day - same as medium, but also with cable car to Hafelekar (2200m)

Inclusions: Local guide, Professional guide, Hotel pickup and drop-off (selected hotels only)

Exclusions: Food and drinks, Transportation to/from attractions, Tourist Card

Alex wasn’t only the most helpful, caring, brilliant tour guide of all times, but also he was like family for us. He was full of positive energy and charming personality, and would light up any room he walked into. His knowledge and experience for every location we visited was astonishing. If I would go again to Europe, I would want none other than Alex to guide me. 11 out of 10!!!

After 4 hours with Kurt we just could not eat anything more for the rest of the day. At the last stop we got a doggybag for the lovely plate of cheese and more. Kurt just keeps telling nice stories about food, his family, the city and all the great lokals that make tasty products. Kurt is very good in the communication before you meet and after, he gives the customer a unique experience. Although the cost for this tour are not small, we are happy to spend it on Kurt and his tour. We wish him (and his home team at the farm) all the best with the lovely foodtour!

For a rainy day we decided to go and visit Schloss Ambras, it turned out to be a good choice! Our children really liked the gardens and the knightsarmer. We enjoyed the paintings and the wonders cabinet. The staff was very friendly and also with the Covid rules this place is good to go and see all the art that is to enjoy. Busstop is nearby and children under 18 can go for free.

What could be nicer on a quiet, sunny day than a trip to the zoo with the family, your partner or even on your own? T The zoo is the only one of its kind worldwide. At 750 meters (about .5 miles), it is Europe’s highest-lying zoo, but it is also easy to get to and not far from the city center. There are many different animals waiting to be seen at the zoo such as lynx, eagles, fish, and birds, as well as wolves and bears.Spring is a particularly interesting time to visit because that is when young animals are born and there is usually a lot going on! At the petting area, rare and local species of cows, pigs, goats and sheep can be seen up close. The ride with the Hungerburgbahn starts at the Station Congress near the center of Innsbruck and brings you in 5 minutes to the Station Alpine Zoo, then back again after your zoo visit.

Inclusions: Hungerburgbahn fees, All taxes, fees and handling charges, Zoo Entry

Exclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, Food and drinks, Guide

Visited this place after a big snowfall, it was an awesome experience. I am generally not too fond with zoos but I must say that in this one the animals seem really to live in confort and in their own environment. A place to be visited.
