Leila's Hair Museum

What's so unusual about this museum that displays antique jewelry and pictures? All items are made of human hair and are authentic antiques at least one hundred years old.

We went sept 2019 and it was a lot of fun! There is so much history in there and new things to learn about. It’s a must see to stop in there!!

Stopped here while passing through Independence, Missouri. Found the collection of documents and objects from the life of President Truman to be truly outstanding, giving great insights into every phase of his life. His tomb is also on site in the building's courtyard. Highly recommend spending a couple hours here for anyone interested in American history.

The Children's Peace Pavilion, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is a nonsectarian, unique, interactive children's museum where children of all ethnicities and faiths come to learn about peace and what it means to be a peacemaker. The Pavilion's unique, child-friendly exhibits teach conflict resolution, violence prevention, character education, self-esteem, cultural understanding, and planetary stewardship by focusing on four essential elements of peace: Peace for Me, Peace for Us, Peace for Everyone, and Peace for the Planet. The Pavilion has open admission on Wednesday & Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm for families and small groups of 5 or less. Other times and larger groups by appointment. Admission is Free. Donations are accepted.

The home is beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the home's working piano and organ were heard playing as we toured the home. Ben was a wonderful tour guide, especially for the children in the group, and answered all our questions with equal enthusiasm.

National Frontier Trails Museum

Museum specializing in information about the historic trails that pioneers took westward.

Great small museum telling the history of the Lewis and Clark expedition as well as the Oregon, California, Santa Fe and Mormon Trails. Good informative video in the beginning to give context, followed by exhibits on each of the major frontier trails and their role in American history. Lots of period artifacts as well as maps and photographs to put everything in perspective. Highly recommend for anyone interested in American History.

The historical sites. The square is looking good much better than the run down look it previously had going on. There is a lot of history here and needs preserved.
