Chateau de Fougeres

Reviewed By TaraK261 - Dublin, Ireland

We stopped in Fougeres as a mid point between Cherbourg and Carnac and it was an ideal spot. We parked in the town centre and walked from the town gardens, which are beautiful, to the castle. The walk was gorgeous and was like walking into a fairytale. The castle itself was fantastic with a huge water wheel and complete castle ramparts. We walked along the ramparts and the kids loved this. The views from the castle ramparts were amazing and the kids loved being able to explore the castle grounds with all its nooks and crannys. There was a series of keyboxes with questions for the children to answer around the castle. There were AV displays and lots to see. A family ticket for 5 of us was €22, which is amazing value for money.

Parc du Thabor

Reviewed By Colophon

We stopped in Rennes on our way to Mont St-Michel. We're so glad we did. Not only did we find this compact town walkable and friendly, but we were pleased to discover its wonderful garden. It was worthy of a couple of hours, even on a brisk, showery day. Set in the site of an old quarry, it rich with water features amid old-growth plantings, with woodsy paths connecting the lower levels to the more formal gardens above. Though it was late in the season, the formal, flowering gardens were still rich with colorful blooms. In the middle of the park, we came upon the lovely aviary and its contributions of amazing colors. Parc du Thabor is a garden worth detouring to visit.
