Everything orbits the Golden Plateau, bookended by the Palace of Culture and Union Square, and packed to the brim with churches and palaces galore. Iasi has significant Jewish history. It’s not only the best cocktail bar in Iasi, but probably one of the nicest places of its kind in the country. The guys at the bar are so skillful and friendly that they’ll just prepare any drink you wish for. But try first their own cocktail menu, it’s full of surprises.

After visiting the Palace with the mall, St Nicholas church and Dosoftei house, then another church, we decided to make a stop here. The Cathedral is very big and housed on well maintained grounds and there were lots of people on the Thursday we visited it. Inside you can relax in the cool interior and pay your respects or simply watch the groups queuing to their patron saint laid here for everyone to see. People are very nice and friendly and greatful even for helping them with the many steps.

Saint Nicholas Church

Reviewed By wondereyes - Bucharest, Romania

This little church touched my heart. This time, in visit for 2 days in Iasi what ever I was doing, when ever my steps brought me near this church, i had the feeling that i have to see it. Finaly, Saturday morning, before leaving we went in the morning . at begining the church was closed at 9:00 am, but fortunately while we were circleing it on the outside to look at the beautiful paintings, a lady came and opened it. The church is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside, paintings are very clear. we had a feeling of pace inside. the icons were so beautiful. This is the oldest church in Iasi and even if restored during the monarchy, it makes you think of its founder - one of the greatest kings in Moldova - Stefan cel Mare. Outside paintings are different from what i saw in other churches - never seen before paited philosophers. I still debate if is first position in Iasi churches or should I put it on second place after Trei Ierarhi.
