June-July is a wonderful time of the year to visit. The days are generally sunny, nice temperature, and the rape flowers beautify the Guozigou Valley.

We came to Khorgos for a short business trip, had a few hour free time so went visit the free trade zone. You'd need a passport to go in and out of the boarders. There's some newly built mall like buildings with small shops offering all sorts of duty free stuffs, ranging from the usual cigarettes, wines and liquor, cosmetics, chocolate, to Russian dolls, cashmere scarfs, honey etc. Merchandisers are all helpful and eager to sell you things. Paying is easy of course like anywhere in China with WeChat Pay, Ali Pay and other traditional credit cards etc. Weather during late July early August is fine with blue sky and warm sunny days. It's cool under shades so quite pleasant.
