Huntington sits on the mid-section of the scenic Ohio River at the point where West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky meet. Founder Collis P. Huntington was the builder and owner of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. West Virginia’s second-largest city and the home of Marshall University, Huntington promises a variety of attractions: a downtown area with shopping, entertainment and a town square with a nostalgic nod to the city's railroad past. Year-round, festivals and special events take place downtown and in Pullman Square, the Civic Arena and the Keith-Albee Theater.

We visited Huntington in hopes of finding some culture and history. We were disappointed to say the least. We happened to drive by this rose garden and glad we stop. It was one on only a couple places in the area we found interesting or nice. The roses and garden were beautiful.

Huntington Museum of Art (HMA) opened on November 9, 1952. Incorporated in 1947, its creation was made possible by the generosity of the community and a group of citizens led by Herbert Fitzpatrick, who donated his art collection of 435 objects and 52 acres of land for the Museum's location. Today, as the only nationally accredited visual art museum of its size in the Tri-State region, HMA encompasses a permanent art collection of over 15,000 objects, ten exhibition galleries, an interactive education gallery, art reference library of over 26,000 volumes, 287-seat auditorium, tropical and subtropical plant conservatory, two outdoor sculpture courts, five studio workshops, two miles of hiking trails, and quarter-mile paved accessible Sensory Trail.
We enjoyed our visit to this well, stocked, with, art, regional museum. Of particular interest is their holdings in Canadian eskimomart and American folk art.

Learn from the Past, Appreciate the Present and Dream for the Future at this beautiful Appalachian treasure. Experience the major inventions that changed the world in the award-winning Museums of Progress, Transportation, Farm and Industry.
Thei collection of antiques in their museums is outstanding and organized. The animals and educational opportunities for children is excellent. Their buildings (general store, one room school house, church, inns, and others are really nice. Beautiful property. Great experience.

I could not understand how the previous reviewers could be so excited about what seems like a fairly benign attraction. But after visiting, I totally get it. The excitement of the incredibly knowledgeable guys working in and running this museum is absolutely contagious! Allow a couple of hours so you will have time to hear everything he has to say, and to ask the questions I am sure you will have. I was so busy absorbing information that I only took one picture!

I think this is where the pigeons were swarming, sidewalk inaccessible, warning signs about sewage discharges; not sure because there was no sign.

The Albee is a landmark in Huntington and holds many memories from wonderful performances by musicians, actors, students, and more. It is a beautiful preservation of the opulence and beauty of the past and worth a visit just to see the decor!

Other than the fact that it was dated the stadium was laid out well and there was truly not a bad seat in the house. Video boards on each end was nice to see the action if the ball was not on our end. It helps win your team wins 60-6!

It was such a pleasure to take my 3 year old to a place I cherished as a child. Nothing much has changed and I love it! I love this place and I look forward to watching my son grow up loving it as well! I wish we didn't have to wait so long for the log chute! I didn't get to ride it because of my impatient kid. Everything else was AMAZING!
