Svátý Ján Pod Skalou is a charming little village just stone throw from Prague or Beroun but sometimes crowded and hard to get parking space especially on nice weather or the national holiday. The village is small, there are just the monastery, the Church with holy cave inside is the path of hermit St.Ivan in the stone and spring where you can tap fresh water, cemetery and restaurants. And couple of trails around the Czech Karts, one ot the trail leads to Karlsejn Castle. One of the favorite trails leads up to the rock with the cross or to Open Air Museum Solvay Quarries (as circle tour back to Svatý Ján. It looks like a hard climb, but it is just moderate 1km walk up to well maintained path, with some natural steps made by tree roots – not suitable for wheelchairs or prams!! From Prague Zličin Metro station you can take a bus or from Beroun. From Beroun you walk on around 5 KM long trail named Vojta Náprstek Road. (The oldest existing marked tourist trail The Czech Tourist Club marked it shortly after its founding in 1889 and named it after its founder). You can eat in the village or I recommend to walk 1KM on the yellow trail along the Kačák stream to Hostim village to the restaurant U Krobiana – homemade meals, and tasty beers from small breweries. From Hostim you can again follow the Kačák stream to Kozel Quarry and go to Srbsko from where a train can be taken to Prague or Beroun, or walk back to Beroun and pass Alkazar Quarry with climbers.

Highest point in Czech Republic. A relatively easy climb, a couple of routes from Pec. cable cars if your not up to the climb or decent. Didnt have much of a view from the top as very cloudy but did get a glimpse of Poland from the top :) Was very quiet the whole climb and the summit was busier. The main restarant was closed, Maybe due to C19, I really dont know but the post office was open and they also serve hot dogs and drinks as well as been able to send a postcard from the highest point in CZ :)
