Howth (/ˈhoʊθ/; Irish: Binn Éadair, meaning "Éadar's peak") is a village and outer suburb of Dublin, Ireland. The district occupies the greater part of the peninsula of Howth Head, forming the northern boundary of Dublin Bay. Originally just a small fishing village, Howth with its surrounding once-rural district is now a busy suburb of Dublin, with a mix of dense residential development, quarries and wild hillside. The only neighbouring district on land is Sutton. Howth is also home to one of the oldest occupied buildings in Ireland, Howth Castle. It has been the site of filming for many films.

Visited the Abbey Tavern for a family evening meal. Found the food and staff to be first class as always. The Christmas spirit is certainly alive and well with the fantastic decorations and lovely background Christmas music. Great spot that we would recommend to all. In addition they are very COVID compliant which made for a safe and relaxing atmosphere.

If you are visiting Dublin do yourself a favor and take one day to leave the city by DART train and see quaint Howth. Amazing walking trails, ocean views, delicious seafood restaurants everywhere, local crafts and food at the Howth market. Only a 30 minute train ride - well worth it!

We were supposed to goto Hills of Moher and Galway but our was cancelled due to strong winds. Howth was suggested by a really nice lady at the Dublin Visitor Center on O’Connell Street. We took the train to Howth and spent almost a full day hiking (spectacular views despite a bit windy weather which was expected for February) and walking around town. We even got to saw dolphins during our hike. We would have gone further on to the Light House but the trail was under construction so we turned back and walked to where we started. We also tried Beshoffs fish and chips and the scampi as a treat which were delicious. Highly recommend.

We arrived in Howth and it was raining cats and dogs. We entered waterside and had a small spot in the window. It was lovely. The food was delicious, there was an impressive variety of draft beers ( found draft moretti!!!) and fish & chips was so delicious. Will definitely visit this place again next time in Howth!

My friend who lived in Ireland would take the train out of the city to Howth many times. When he decided to take us there one day - I never anticipated this adventure being one of the best experiences I've ever had. We took the 20 minute train ride in the morning and started our venture toward the summit. Keep in mind that this walk is very difficult on a windy day - so choose a day with no rain and less wind since they don't have railings or ropes to hold onto. There are a few benches along the route in case you need to sit. Do wear comfortable shoes and expect to climb a few rocky paths but don't be discouraged because it isn't difficult when other people are with you. There are three picture perfect points along the trail that literally take your breath away on a sunny day. If you're feeling confused or just need to clear your head - this experience is for you. It's beautiful and soothing, as well as great exercise for people on vacation that normally work out when they're at home. When you reach the top-ish area....take a walk to the Summit Inn and have a few pints. They have an indoor and outdoor area and it's really cute. Overall, Howth is a great place to spend with the family or friends.
