The mere mention of Hawaii is enough to prompt visions of grass skirts and colorful cocktails with tiny umbrellas. While you will find some kitsch in Honolulu, you’ll also find art museums, bike paths, and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Popular Waikiki Beach has soft sands and great surf. For majestic Oahu views scramble to the top of Diamond Head – a 350-acre volcanic crater. Historic structures like Iolani Palace and Ali'iolani Hale are worth a visit on a non-beach day.

My wife found this factory tour and we decided to give it a go. Having been consumers of their products we thought it would be a interesting to see how it was made. We had no idea until we arrived that we were going to get to make our own box of chocolates. Very cool! When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and almost a familiarity like we were old friends. The tour was very informative and interesting. I learned more about the process than I thought possible. The family’s passion for what they do, concern for the future and knowledge was amazing. How often do you get a tour of a factory from the company president? Thank you all! We had a blast and will return.

Hey I grew up going to seed stores like this one. Glass jars with all the goodies inside. Overwhelming smells from all the seeds make your mouth water when you enter the door! So many choices and not enough money. I did not know they still had these old school seed stores in town. Now days you go to stores where everything is already prepackaged. If you want to go back to yesteryear and relive your childhood shopping in a seed store, this is the place! They have all your favorites: li hing mui (about 8 types), rock salt plum, sweet seed, arare, iso peanut, cuttlefish, shredded li hing mui mango and more!! Definitely worth your time to treat yourself to some childhood memories and snacks!! Conveniently located in Kaimuki.

Shimazu Shave Ice ~ in Hawaii’s Favorite Kitchens. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This little shop has yummy shaved ice treats...the rainbow with ice cream on the bottom is highly recommended and a local favorite...at least a favorite of the kids...wink. If you have a Kona Ice truck in your town, which is good, go here to see what a REAL shaved ice treat from Hawaii tastes like. Again...yummy.!

Newt at The Royal is a very special shop in the palm grove of The Royal Hawaiian.....shopkeepers Lee and Jim are wonderful! This is no national operation.....Hawaiian shirts from old patterns and prints made just for them under their own label....the look and wear great! I love my selection from them! Nice beach handbags picking up those patterns, and a full selection of every kind of straw fedora you can imagine....go local!

Professional Henna shop and Jagua temporary tattoo studio, located in the heart of Waikiki. All of my work is freehand and custom, and the products I use are safe for skin, plant based products. A relaxing, comfortable sanctuary right in the middle of town. A session with me is often described as one of the best parts of their vacation! Fun for everyone and all ages!

The Aiea Fabric Mart is wonderful! Went shopping for batik fabric and found a beautiful bolt but insufficient fabric for my needs. One of the staff members was delightful and called another store to see if they had the fabric in stock. I was in luck, as the fabric was found at the other store, so after purchasing 14 yards of fabric, I was off to purchase an additional eight! Headed back to Aiea store the following day to purchase some fabrics for a wall hanging quilt. Love this store for its prices, quality, and customer service.
