Had the chance to go up the lighthouse right before nightfall. Therefore I was up there by myself. The climb was a part of a tour I booked which included also a walk through the woods and along a part of the beach with a guide explaining the special circumstances regarding amelands nature. Even though I was the only one who showed up for the tour I was given the full experience nevertheless. From the lighthouse you have a great overview over the island and if the weather is nice you‘ll even be able to see the island neighboors. Inside the lighthouse you‘ll find interesting facts about the history of the Tower itself and of Ameland.

Trip Advisor says that it is closed every day except Saturday which is incorrect. The staff were friendly and explained how it produces flour
