Hokkaido (北海道, Hokkaidō, literally "Northern Sea Circuit") (Japanese: [hokkaꜜidoː] ( listen)), formerly known as Ezo, Yezo, Yeso, or Yesso, is the second largest island of Japan, and the largest and northernmost prefecture. The Tsugaru Strait separates Hokkaido from Honshu. The two islands are connected by the undersea railway Seikan Tunnel. The largest city on Hokkaido is its capital, Sapporo, which is also its only ordinance-designated city. About 43 km north of Hokkaido lies Sakhalin Island, Russia, whereas to its east and north-east are the disputed Kuril Islands.

This is a great activity for both families visiting the area and for families living in the area and who are looking for outdoor experiences to get their kids off the couch and enjoying the great outdoors. The owner Hiro was excellent with the kids (8 & 11 years old) and with the adults too. The horses (Monaka, Azuki, Bakuu and Daifuku) were all well behaved and did a great job of entertaining the boys while riding. For the rest of the day the boys couldn't stop talking about riding them and I am sure they will be telling all their friends today at school! Can't recommend this activity enough. .
