Tucked away behind Hexham's main shopping streets is this excellent bookshop: well stocked, imaginative displays and a friendly atmosphere that encourages browsing. They also sell an impressive range of quality greetings cards. Well worth seeking out if you are in Hexham.

The Forum Cinema is a vibrant independent, commercial cinema and hub for film in Hexham and the Tyne Valley.
I’m regularly in Hexham and I always thought the old Forum had been replaced by Wetherspoons, so was pleasantly surprised when I noticed their film listings. I’m a huge fan of the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle and the Forum compares very favourably (though not sure what their usual programme consists of). Staff were great, kids loved it and the building is beautiful. We’ll definitely be back.

Came with parents and we all had a great time. The owner is clearly very passionate about his collection and we all marveled at his amazing displays. Dad got very nostalgic seeing props and costumes from the stories he watched as a child. And if you can, buy the guidebook. The £5 goes towards the upkeep of this fascinating place, and its a great read as well. Would definitely return given the chance.

Lying in magnificent countryside next to a sweeping section of Hadrian's Wall and based at the site of Carvoran Roman Fort, the Roman Army Museum is an authentic and dramatic tribute to Rome’s extraordinary military legacy. Step into the life of a Roman soldier and experience life on the front line of Emperor Hadrian’s formidable British frontier. Explored through reconstructions, objects excavated along Hadrian's Wall and the Vindolanda Trust’s inspiring interpretations of army life including the exclusive 3D Edge of Empire film, the museum pays unforgettable homage to Rome's military accomplishments in Britain.
The Roman Army Museum should be the starting point to your adventure along Hadrian's Wall! Very informative along with the new 3D presentation thoroughly explains the Roman experience and the formation of such a significant sight!

This former medieval abbey was built late in the 7th century.
I had never visited Hexham Abbey before - what a wonderful place!! It has so much history surrounding it ... from it’s original building in the 7th Century, the Frith stool, the Night Stair, the Anglo Saxon crypt through to it’s Big Story exhibition charting the history of the site. It is a fascinating place to visit. There is also a great cafe on site. However, I would suggest that if you’re planning a visit, check out if there are any services being held at the same time as access may be restricted

Not 100, not 500 but 1000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest play home to this magnificent, elegant Edwardian mansion. That the interiors are almost as dramatic as the exterior says it all. This is very old world grandeur with a modern twist. Bask in the warmth of the reception you receive on arrival, dine at Hadrian's Brasserie, or at the Duke's Grill. Indulge with a vichy water spa treatment or just flop in the fantastic indoor pool. The great outdoors doesn’t get much greater. After a bracing country walk in the wilds, or round on our championship golf course, retire to the Claret Jug and the 19th Bar for a stiff brandy. Surely you deserve it ?
Absolutely beautiful surroundings in and around the spa. I had a body scrub and a massage and it was the best hour of my life. Lots of fresh fruit and water stations dotted around the spa. The staff were lovely and really friendly. The lunch was tasty with healthy options and naughty desserts. If I could go here every weekend I would. Can’t recommend enough.
