We had a fantastic wine tasting session with friends. Jani the winemaker was very cheerful, he showed us around the facility, told a couple of nice and funny stories about his wine-maker life :) We took six fantastic bottle of wines and an awesome extra dry champaigne. Even in november, the weather was so nice, we took out tables to the sun and enjoyed the event outside. 5 stars, recommended to everybody coming to Eger :)

Egri Road – Beatles Museum is located in the heart of the historic town of Eger. Guests can get a glimpse of the life and career of the band by up-to-date technical solutions. Newsreels are played and the songs of the band can be listened to, whereas contemporary publications, garments and rarities are displayed. Games and photo-taking activities take the visitors back to the legendary sixties.
Even if this museum was in London or Liverpool it would be impressive. The owner, 50 something, began his collection at age 9. There is a very well-done 12 minute documentary before you begin your self-guided tour. We took our two children (3 and 6) and they loved it. You can play guitar, listen to music, watch videos and just gaze at all the cool Beatles stuff.

Europe's largest fresh-water aquarium system Within the walls of the Lake Tisza Ecocentre you can step into an amazing underwater world and marvel the region's native fish species in the largest fresh-water aquarium system of Europe with a capacity of over 735,000 litres on level -1 and -2 in the main building. The inner aquariums are directly connected to an artificial lake next to the building, so they form a complex of huge freshwater system. You will be inspired by more than 40 native Hungarian fish species, among them pikes, wels catfish or carps. It is difficult to decide, but maybe our most spectacular inhabitants are the fishes of sturgeon family: european, diamond and starry sturgeons.

Great place for a half day/ whole day in the nature with the family. A small train brings you in the heart of a national park. You can have a lot of fun with the children in the "forest school", have a picnic or buy locally grown fish (pisztrang), see a huge cave and a few waterfalls. Totally loved it.

The "City Under the City" is fascinating. It provides insight into amazing 17th century mining technology, and the massive scale of historical Eger winemaking. The English language guide provides an interesting description of the cellar's status after the Communist takeover in 1947: "the wine was transported from here and the empty cellar was neglected". It should read: "the wine was stolen, and the empty cellar abandoned". The temperature was refreshing on a hot September day. Our guide was extremely accommodating to my son and I, the only two English speakers, informative, and very funny. Recommended.
