The lighthouse became operative in 1767, and was fully manned for 235 years. In 2002 it became a fully automatic lighthouse, and the keeper had to pack his things and leave. alesund & Sunnmore Travel Association have included the keepers house in their sortiment of self-service tourist huts. Thank you to Phil and Saksia from Møre-to-Sea for sharing with us their knowlegde about seaweeds. Me and my children had a fantastic time learning about seaweeds, how to recognise them, picking and finally cooking them? We shared a delicious diner.

Golleneset Lighthouse flashes welcome! A very short walk in easy terrain from the parking takes you to the open sea at the Lighthouse. You will be passing Kjemperøysa, a 17 m large burial mound, - 3500 years old. Perfect conditions to enjoy the sun and the sea. On a stormy day the sea is making salty sea foam in large quantities between the rocks. Be aware of the waves!
