This place is absolutely great. This is the place that put Willie Nelson on the map!!!

I find Raymond Rimkus Park very ideal for a quick run. Lots of parking spaces. With two covered restrooms. Two drinking fountains. And you can visit the Huebner Onion Natural area for a dose of nature. While you're inside, take a look at Old Huebner gravesite

We really enjoyed our stop at Helotes Creek Winery. The staff and owners treat you like family, and their greeter is Bella, the sweetest bulldog on earth. You can sit indoors and enjoy a conversation with Stephen, who will help you find the right wine (they have tastings, or you can choose a full glass) the, locals, and other patrons, or choose a relaxing spot on the front porch, where Bella will join you. They have a nice selection of wines;something for everyone. Prices are reasonable, and we look forward to stopping any time we head for the Hill Country.

Beautiful church that was respectfully updated and enlarged without destroying the original integrity and character of the structure. You can still see the original sanctuary—a fitting tribute to the decades of worshippers who called this parish home. Beautiful inside and out.

Senator Frank L. Madla Natural Area

Reviewed By LAH28 - San Antonio, Texas

We live locally and had heard about this place but didn't know exactly where it was. Then finally saw a brown sign on Scenic Loop Road indicating turning on Menchaca. The area is located on the right side of Menchaca. The gate was open so drove in. The unpaved road leads to the small pavilion area. This place REALLY needs maintenance. We didn't dare get out as the weeds were more than waist high. So we didn't really see signage that was helpful either as far as trails or trail map. It looked to be possibly one or two trails at the most. The pavilion is small but nice for usage if area were kept up around it better. I believe this is about 42 acres and suppose to have hiking and jogging trails but in the heat of summer we did not feel comfortable venturing out in the weeds considering possible snakes. We assumed maybe there are not enough volunteers to keep the area maintained and with the early spring rains it has gotten too overgrown. According to the website there is a park board that oversees it but we were not impressed by the appearance. We might check it out in the fall to see if it has been mowed and signage more visible. It is slightly remote and did not notice any bathrooms but not sure if there are any by pavilion. It does have potential so hope it flourishes in the future.

We went to Aquatica this summer and lots of fun. We rode the lazy river several times. Even though it was super crowded, we were still able to relax and just float around. Afterwards, our children convinced us to try the slides and the wave pool. Those, too, were loads of fun. We are a family that loves amusement parks and especially roller coasters, so water slides are the next best thing at a water park. The wave pool was fun, but I would rather feel the crashing of a wave in the ocean. Also, they can be dangerous for little ones if they go too for into the deep end, and they don't have good foot placement. If you loose your footing you may not be able to regain it before the next wave hits again, please hold on to you young ones.

A fabulous way to spend a weekend with grandchildren and family. Something for everyone. The rides are great and the kiddie splash area is a great place to cool off on a hot day after visiting all of the park! Love the shows! Pets Ahoy and the Sea Lions are my favorite, but the grand kids just love the Shamu's. Great food! We had the brisket & chicken! I am a Platinum member and bought passes for all the grand kids and my son too. We plan to visit at least 3 times a month. And a great way to get needed exercise! Love the new look this year. Thank you Sea World.
