Thanks to its location just to the south of Kruger National Park, Hazyview makes a great base for safari expeditions and adventure tours. It’s an animal lover’s paradise, with opportunities to engage with elephants, ride rescue horses through the hills, spot one or more species on “The Big 5” list, and much more. You can also tour coffee farms, splash in waterfalls or sink into relaxation at an area spa.

The driver Greg picked 6 of us up from the Kruger airport and drove us to Rissington Inn. On the way, he provided history and useful information on the scenery we passed. The next morning, our driver Paul, picked us up from Rissington Inn, took us on the Panarama Highlights Tour, and then onto Umjumbe Safari Lodge. Both drivers were exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I would definitely recommend their services. Thanks to Live Life African Safari Getaways for organizing the transfers.

Everything was great. I had challenges paying with my US credit card (because of my bank, not their system) and Office manager was incredibly helpful and supportive through the process. Everything else went quite smoothly - I was picked up on time at both ends of the journey and felt comfortable along the way, the lodge itself was gorgeous with friendly and attentive staff and good food, the game preserve was beautiful and not crowded with jeeps at each animal sighting. It was a great experience and I never felt at all nervous as a solo travers.

Kruger National Park is the most recommended for wildlife destination in South Africa and in Africa. Depart from Johannesburg or Pretoria daily, offers an opportunity to drive via magnificent scenic view of Panorama Route for other wonders of nature. I.e God's window and the Blyde River Canyon. While enjoying the drive, view of country's beautiful landscape and pass through historical towns. Some of our stops include the highest point town in the country, that's Dullstroom at 2100 meters above sea level. It is also home of Trout fish that incidentally landed from Scotland. The only opportunity to explore both the highveld and lowveld regions at ones.
Inclusions: Dinner, Breakfast, Breakfast, Air-conditioned vehicle, All Fees and Taxes, Bottled water, Accredited and experienced tourist guide , WiFi on board
Exclusions: Alcoholic beverages, tips
I highly recommend this tour. Norman, my guide for the day, came to the hotel to pick me up. We drove to the Apartheid museum where he left me inside to explore. 2.5 hours later we met outside and were on our way to Soweto. Touring the various neighborhoods in Soweto gave me a great overall view of the area. We stopped at the Hector Peterson memorial and then at the Mandela house. At the end, Norman drove me back to the hotel. Norman was a very charming guide and very knowledgeable of the history of the area.

TLDR; this is a tremendous experience for the adventurous traveler; if you have an open mindset about meeting new people, enjoy hiking and the outdoors, and don't mind an occasionally rough ride, this is an incredible trip and well worth your time. Having never traveled outside the US, I wanted to go big on my first solo trip with the 62-day excursion from Pretoria to Nairobi. Since it was such an extensive trip, I was looking for the most value for my time, based on price, activities, and safety. I backpack often, so beyond basic comfort was not a priority for me, which turned out to be a good mindset to adopt since we camped nearly the entire trip, & rode in a truck with no AC (Namibia gets hot!). Tip - be ready to retrieve the rain fly for your tent during unexpected 3 AM rain showers! However, nearly all of the sites we stayed at had the option to upgrade from camping to comfortable indoor accommodations, which was a nice option to take advantage of occasionally. Once we reached our site for the night, we began our daily rotating duties, which included helping to cook, clean the truck, and do dishes, which I think added to the experience and helped bond our fellow tourists. Traveling solo, I felt safe at all times with our guides, drivers, and locations. My trip was split between two guides, Crispen, then Pete, and they were great company that looked out for us and kept us safe and informed about everything around us. Our guides were familiar with the paths and knew everyone at our destinations. Nothing surprised them. Our drivers were impressive as well, with Harmony and Francis keeping us safe on the often-tumultuous African roads. Navigating both urban and off-road environments in our trucks was no easy task, and Francis even proved his mechanic skills during the occasional break-down. The variety of locations we stayed at were simply incredible. From Cape Town to the deserts of Namibia, the Okavango Delta to Zanzibar Island, the mixture of urban and remote landscapes couldn't have been better. We saw every animal you can imagine. On a trip like this, an open mindset is key. Traveling for two months with strangers can go any number of ways, but due to this trip, I now have lifelong friends scattered across the globe that I can't wait to visit. This wasn't just a vacation, it was a lasting, eye-opening experience that I believe everyone should try if possible. I can't recommend this trip enough. I wish I could go back to January and do it all over again.

My husband and I booked our first safari with Legends after our friend Kevin, recommended them. He went on a photographic safari with them in early March. With the help of Shaheen we were able to get our photographic safari planned and booked for mid-April. Shaheen was so responsive, always answered our inquiries quickly. We booked a photographic safari, and stayed 3 nights at Elephant Plains and 4 nights at MalaMala. Pravir our photographic guide was with us at both reserves. We were with 3 other photographers at MalaMala, but at Elephant Plains we were the only ones and Shaheen managed to get us a private car. We appreciated Pravir's knowledge as a guide and as our photographic guide. His knowledge of both made our trip so memorable and the best it could possibly be. Both lodges were excellent and the sightings diverse, saw all the Big Five and more! We have and would recommend Legend Safari's to anyone! Booking a safari for a first-timer is so mind boggling when you look at all the information that is out there. Legend Safari's made the process very easy.

My boyfriend and I did all our tours with Nic from Africa Moja Tours & Transfers-Cradle of Human Kind, Lesedi, Soweto, and Pretoria. We were very nervous booking tours as it was all last minute and we did not have a lot of time to research. However, our first day went so great with Nic that we booked another day. He is a very safe driver, incredibly knowledgeable and smart, and a great person to hang out with while touring the area. Nic and the tours were truly one of the highlights of our three week trip in South Africa and I would highly recommend using this company and Nic for your tours. I am so grateful we had an incredible experience on our first time visiting.
