The Pays de Laon offers a wealth of natural and historic heritage sites! The medieval, hilltop city of Laon and its Gothic cathedral is a must-see, as are the WWI battlefields of the Chemin des Dames, and the undulating landscapes of the surrounding countryside! Lovers of the French of way of life will also want to try a host of local specialities and traditional restaurants…
Spoke to the chap behind the counter in my very poor French and he immediately switched to English. Bought tickets to the (so new I can't find a listing for it) Secrets Sous la Ville tour and got a free map of the village with all the major sites marked. Left my driving license as 'deposit' for the audio guide. Altogether very friendly and helpful
