Known as "Hub City," Hattiesburg is conveniently located at the intersection of six major US highways. More than just a stopover spot, Hattiesburg offers visitors a plethora of attractions and activities. The historic districts of Hattiesburg are some of the most intact neighborhoods in Mississippi. The Mobile Street District preserves the city's African American heritage, and the Hub City, North Main and Oaks Historic Districts feature tree-lined streets and buildings dating back to the 1880s.

The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum is proud to serve as the military history museum for the state of Mississippi. The museum aims to educate the public about Mississippi’s role in military history, while honoring the service of both Mississippi veterans and those who have trained in Mississippi during times of war. Visit us today, located approximately 10 miles south of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center.
I had no idea this museum existed but what a gem. Even though it was free, clearly there was plenty of money spent in the creation and curation of the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum. The presentation is top rated and compares favorably to famous institutions such the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. The fact that the museum is located on Camp Shelby, the training location of the highly decorated Japanese American 442nd Infantry Regiment, was a bonus. Oh, German POWs were kept on Camp Shelby during WWII as well. So much history!

This trail is one of the Rails to Trail's Hall of Fame trails. The trail well deserves this honor as it has great signage, well spaced rest stations with actual restrooms and water fountains and well maintained paved surface. I rode from my hotel in Hattiesburg (Day's Inn), accessing the trail just east of the I-59 overpass to the end of the trail in Prentiss. The trail goes through groves of pine trees and is very tranquil. The trail was lightly travelled on a hot weekday when I was riding. Hopefully more people visit this wonderful trail when the weather is cooler, as well as in the evenings and on weekends.

This yoga studio is absolutely the best in the Hattiesburg area. Daniel has created a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for all to practice yoga, whether beginner or experienced. He and his team of yoga instructors are friendly, knowledgable, and offer a variety of classes and expertise.
