Kids can get their hands ‘dirty’ when cooking gingerbread cookies. Interesting displays about baking and the baker’s (family) life in the old days. The life bread demo was fun to watch and kept everyone entertained for quite some time. Treasure hunts available for different ages. The layout with multiple buildings is funny and embers the museum in the old streets of Hattem. The typical ‘poffertjes’ are a treat after the tour.

Anton Pieck (1895-1987) was een buitengewoon artistiek talent. Anton Pieck is het meest bekend als Nederlandse illustrator van de 20e eeuw. Dat hij ook vele andere technieken beheerste is bij het grote publiek minder bekend. Pieck werd geinspireerd door de “goede oude tijd”, die hij minutieus en historisch verantwoord optekende. Anton Pieck gebruikte zijn uitgesproken romantische stijl om het dagelijks leven vast te leggen tot in de kleinste details, die ons terugbrengt naar een minder gecompliceerde wereld. Het Anton Pieck Museum biedt een brede en verdiepende kijk in het werk en leven van de kunstenaar. Tot 28 februari 2021 exposeert het museum werk dat gemaakt is in opdracht van de Efteling. Hierbij zijn de originele ontwerptekeningen van het Sprookjesbos te zien. Vanwege Corona maatregelen dient u tevoren te reserveren. Pieck inspireert, sprookjes herleven, nostalgie ontwaakt.

Anton Pieck was a many-faceted artist. He travelled through Europe and Morocco and drew along the way, capturing castles, landscapes and townspeople in great detail. He painted in small and large format. He illustrated a number of books, especially books for children. He is perhaps best known for his whimsical prints. His printmaking equipment is on display in this small but fascinating museum. His drawings, paintings and prints cover the walls of the two stories and basement of the traditional Dutch home that houses the museum. If you visit Hattem, do not miss this museum!
