JJ Ohana is a great little gift/snack shop in Hanapepe. The have nice gifts for reasonable prices and the staff is very, very sweet and helpful. They sell a great selection of Ni' ihau shell jewelry with certificates of authenticity. I know, my mom bought me one for Christmas and I love it!! Definitely worth stopping in.

While traveling, I always make it a point to visit a local bookstore. If possible, I find one with a great story and Talk Story may have the best narrative. It is the westernmost bookstore in the United States and the only bookstore on Kauai. It was a highlight of our visit to Hanapepe and a great way to conclude our day after hiking in the Waimea Canyon. Talk Story offers a great selection of books with a fantastic focus on Hawaii. The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. I picked up a few books and enjoyed the time spent browsing Talk Story. If you love cats, you will appreciate Talk Story's Boss - Celeste.

This is a fabulous store. The Hawaiian rub, guava garlic salt and our new favorite...hawaiian curry! Stock up every year to take home for a reminder of this beautiful island. Great gifts for family and friends. We walk in and the fragarance of the spices welcome us as well as the wonderful people that work there!

Since 1965, we have been THE original "kookie" from the island of Kauai. Our bakers are hard at work creating a variety of island-style cookies and other baked items that uphold a reputation of quality. Each of our products is baked fresh daily using some of Hawaii’s finest ingredients. Come visit our factory store in Hanapepe and select from a variety of samples - we are sure you will find one that you like.
Well it is not a fancy place, but the “Kookies” taste great. When you walk in there are plenty of samples. Taste them all. Hard to beat the shortbread macadamia nut.

The Aloha Spice Company is located on the island of Kaua`i Hawaii. We make spices, seasonings & rubs, Hawaiian Salts, Smoked Salts, Hawaiian Sugars and much more. We make all our products in small batches using the highest quality ingredients. We have 2 main locations on Kaua`i; our main store is located in Hanapepe and we have a smaller retail store at Kilohana Plantation in Lihue. We have something for everyone and offer many other locally made foods, gourmet groceries and locally made gifts.
Friday night is Art Night in Hanapepe. It is so much fun with street vendors, food trucks, and shops that stay open late. Aloha Spice is a quaint shop with the most interesting spices for sale! This trip I picked up two new cacao grinds - one spicy, one dessert minded, both equally good! I also recommend the Hawaiian Paradise Grind (a mixture of Hawaiian sea salt, onion, orange peel, chives, and the mysterious “grains of paradise.” It is amazing on chicken, vegetables, and in fried rice of all things. ❤️
